Projects In Your State
"[AmeriCorps] is a tremendous investment in young people, a tremendous investment in the future, and I am a strong supporter of AmeriCorps. I think they have demonstrated their worth, they have paid their dues and they are worthy of the support I hope they will get from Congress."
General Colin Powell
"You may never work harder or get dirtier. But it will be the best job you never got paid to do."
Comment of a Sussex County RSVP volunteer honored by the governor for disaster response efforts.
"We have found AmeriCorps to be an enormously beneficial addition to the traditional voluntary sector... Rather than replacing volunteers or diminishing volunteerism, we are finding over and over again that national service participants are helping draw more volunteers into service in communities across the country."
Leaders of 24 national nonprofit organizations, including Big Brothers / Big Sisters, YMCA / YWCA, AARP, and the Girl Scouts
"The greatest lesson I have learned is the importance of giving. I may not be able to give lots of money but I can give my time. This means so much to others. I can use the talents God has given me to make a difference in this work. Whether it touches one person or 50, then I know I have done something."
Eric Teagle, AmeriCorps*VISTA member
