CHAPTER 3. DELAWARE INTERSCHOLASTIC ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION
There is hereby established the Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association. The Association is intended to preserve and promote the educational significance of interscholastic athletics; ensure that interscholastic sports remains compatible with the educational mission of the member schools; provide for fair competition between member schools; promote sportsmanship and ethical behavior; establish and enforce standards of conduct for athletes, coaches, administrator, officials and spectators; protect the physical well-being of athletes; and promote healthy adolescent lifestyles. To these ends, the General Assembly intends for the Association to work in consultation and cooperation with the Department of Education toward full implementation of this chapter. The following definitions apply to this chapter: (1) "Association" means the Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association. (2) "Board" means the Board of Directors of the Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association. (3) "Department" means the Delaware Department of Education.

International Visiting Scholars Request for Proposals Deadline: 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2003 The Center for International Studies (CFIS) and the Office of Undergraduate Studies (OUS) invite applications from faculty for the International Visiting Scholars Award (IVSA) program, part of the University-wide America and the Global Community initiative. The initiative is designed to enhance opportunities for faculty and students to better understand the global challenges facing our society. The IVSA program is meant to complement the University of Delaware's general education initiative in LIFE, Pathways, capstone, discovery learning, and core competencies ( www.udel.edu/ugs/gened ). The amount of each award will be up to $4000, and is intended to fund visits of up to 14 days by an international scholar. Submission Requirements Proposals must include:
  • A brief summary of the visiting scholars credentials.
  • A narrative explaining the significance of the scholar's visit to the UD general education initiative. The narrative should provide information on the format of the student-scholar interactions (guest lectures, discussion in student residence halls, etc.), and also include and describe other opportunities for student to meet and interact with the visiting scholar (speaking in other courses, campus events, journal clubs, brown-bag luncheons, and lab meetings).
  • A budget containing enough evidence that the award is sufficient to support the visiting scholar for up to two weeks on campus.

    Welcome to the Serf home page! Serf is a Web-based distance education environment invented by Dr. Fred T. Hofstetter . As you can see in the picture at the top of this page, Serf is an acronym that stands for server-side educational records facilitator. The latest version of Serf also contains portal services for creating more general-purpose data-driven Web sites throughout the enterprise. Serf provides an environment for delivering courses anywhere in the world, using the World Wide Web as a distance education medium. Serf makes it possible to create and deliver courses in a self-paced multimedia learning environment that enables students to navigate a syllabus, access instructional resources, communicate, and submit assignments over the Web in unique and powerful ways. Instructors can easily access and grade the assignments via the Serf gradebook. At any time, students can click a button to see a report of their progress in a course, along with comments from their instructor and a prediction of their final grade.
