By DIANE GLASS Atlanta Journal-Constitution Columnist Diane's bio Steer clear of any group that thinks they know the answer. This question assumes all women have the same needs, the same thoughts, the same mind and above all, that women are hormonal drones who exhibit the same characteristics and share the same political attitudes. The political party that works best for women depends on the woman you're asking. If it is assumed that all women are alike and think alike, we ask questions about how we can fit women into a convenient box. Assuming one political party is more pro-woman caters to the mindset that women are a political commodity because of a pair of ovaries. We assume they are nurturing caretakers and that children are a natural concern of all women. Don't listen to the hype; listen to your conscience.

Limited Political Party:
AS 15.30.025 and 15.60.012(12) - A Limited Political Party is a political group which organizes for the purpose of selecting candidates for electors for President and Vice President of the United States. To qualify for this status, a Limited Political Party petition is submitted to the Division of Elections and must be signed by 2,878 registered voters to qualify for the presidential election in 2004. A Limited Political Party ceases to be recognized in the State of Alaska if its presidential candidate fails to receive at least 3% of the votes cast for President.
Recognized Political Party: AS 15.60.010(20) - A Recognized Political Party is an organized group of voters that represents a political program and either nominated a candidate for Governor who received at least three percent of the total votes cast for Governor at the preceding General Election or has registered voters equal to at least 3% of the votes cast for Governor in the last election. Until it qualifies as a political party under this definition, an independent political group may field candidates for statewide and district-wide offices only by filing nominating petitions as required by AS 15.25.140 - 15.25.205.

Decimation of Independence
Jesse Ventura's political party collapses.
By Burl Gilyard
Posted Friday, November 8, 2002, at 2:08 PM PT
The Wellstone-Mondale-Coleman melodrama has distracted attention from Minnesota's other political story: the dismal evaporation of Gov. Jesse Ventura's Independence Party. When Minnesota's wrestler-turned-statesman petulantly declared in June that he would not seek a second term, former Democratic Rep. Tim Penny saw a golden opportunity. Penny hastily defected from the Democrats and not so humbly offered himself as Ventura's heir, winning the Independence Party's nomination in July. His campaign refrain was that he represented the "sensible center." Throughout the campaign, polls pointed to a tight, anyone's-ballgame race among Penny, Republican Tim Pawlenty, and Democrat Roger Moe. A mid-October poll by the Minneapolis-based Star Tribune suggested a statistical dead heat, with 29 percent each for Pawlenty and Moe, and Penny at 27 percent. Penny won endorsements from several newspapers around the state, including the

Russia's Political Party Landscape on the eve of 1995 Elections
by Vladimir Pribylovsky , president of Panorama Information and Expert Group
Russia today has some 60 registered political organizations which call themselves parties, a further 50 which consider themselves to be "political movements" and a swarm of other organizations registered as "social" or "social-political associations". There is no fundamental difference between "parties", "movements" and "associations", although there may be some differences between these entities in terms of member registration requirements and individual or collective membership.
Theoretically, a member of a movement or association may be a member of other movements, associations and parties, while a member of a party may be a member of other movements and associations, but not of other parties. In practice, many politicians are simultaneously members of several parties and, indeed, the statutes of some parties allow their members to be affiliated with parties having similar political programs. Generally, parties do not mind if their members also happen to be, say, members of the Beer Lovers Party
Parties typically have registered membership, that is, a party member is only a person whose name has been entered in appropriate registration lists. A member of a movement or association is typically defined as any citizen who considers himself or herself to be a member. Movements allow other organizations, including parties, as collective members, but in practice some parties also allow collective membership.

...And How They Suck
I'm no anarchist, I just miss the glory days
An Introduction
Once upon a time the United States of America used to kick so much ass. Now look at us. Europe hates us, OPEC is raping us, and every third world nation is vying to steal our technolgy and take our money. We're having power outages all over the place, China is becoming the next Soviet Union, and our foreign policy has been shot to hell. Domestic policy isn't that much better. We're having crises all over the place: energy, health, military, education, etc. What the fuck is going on? There are plenty of places to point the finger of blame, and many unique reasons for each problem do exist, but what I'm going to talk about here is one specific aspect that has done more harm than most other things: fucked up political parties.
Republican Party
Democratic Party
Major Third Parties
Third parties haven't been a strong political force since the nineteenth century, and the only real impact they've had lately is altering the balance of power between the Republicans and Democrats. In 1992 Ross Perot fucked over the Republicans, and in 2000 Ralph Nadar fucked over the Democrats. Yet whether it be the Green Party or the Reform Party, both of them suck because they are not inclusive but narrow-minded. Neither of these parties will ever have a chance at capturing a national election. They are merely wild cards.
All The Others
All those other parties, i.e. Comminist, Libertarian, Socialist, etc., are just fucking pathetic. They're all a bunch of Neo-Nazi's who want to overthrow our capitalistic society and form their own utopia. We all know that kind of policy is bull shit. That crap never works out and the biggest consequence is that the people are the ones who get screwed. Nothing will ever change that.

http://www.nf.ndp.ca/young.htm
The New Democratic Party Politics can make a difference
Many people are under the impression that politics is boring, and nothing can be done to change things. If politics didn't make a difference then why would banks and large corporations give millions of dollars to the Liberals and Tories each year?
In the Newfoundland and Labrador Young New Democrats (NLYND) we believe political action is fun and that you can change things.
Practical solutions to difficult problems
Politics should be all about being decent to the people, sharing what we can and helping each other out. Long term political change is not achieved by chaining ourselves to fences and screaming about injustice. We're not crazy radicals, we're normal people who want things like decent jobs and decent schools, decent hospitals and roads without pot holes.
Having a good time
Politics is fun. Working on campaigns, talking to people in the community, and coming up with solutions to challenging problems is by no means boring. Never mind the thrill of competition, the excitement of being part of a movement for change, and the comradeship with fellow political allies. Besides, New Democrats like to party.
Good government
Politics is also about power, winning it and using it. Changing things for the better. The only way to make politics decent is to elect decent people and to have a diverse group of people working with them. That's where you come in. Being involved in a political party means that you can have a say in who runs for political office in your area, and on a larger scale you can help shape the policy of the party.

Retirement gives Democrats pause
By JOHN WILLIAMS
A page turned in Houston political lore last week that helps show why Democrats had success until lately and why they now struggle. Talmadge Sharp stepped down from the Harris County Democratic Executive Committee. For more than five decades, the 76-year-old Sharp has been a key player in Democratic Party politics, especially inside the African-American community. At one time, Sharp led his voting precinct the legendary Precinct 259 in Pleasantville to the highest voter turnout in Texas. Such political notoriety attracted mayors, governors and presidents as Pleasantville became a must-stop for Democratic candidates. Four Houston City Council members have come from the neighborhood during the last 30 years. Sharp helped guide one of the great political movements in Houston the emergence of a political bloc, based in black neighborhoods, reliably Democratic and strong enough to swing elections.
