MAKE PASSENGER VEHICLES MORE COMPATIBLE WHEN THEY CRASH To reduce the lethal effect of impacts NHTSA should develop safety countermeasures to improve front end and side impact energy management in smaller vehicles, develop approaches to modulate the height, weight, and general aggressive character of large vans, pickup trucks, and sport utility vehicles (SUVs), and require improved active and passive occupant restraint systems in cars. PREVENT VEHICLE ROLLOVER NHTSA must establish a new standard to govern dynamic stability performance and rollover for passenger vehicles under real-world operating conditions. NHTSA must also develop a dynamic rollover test that comports with real-world experience, to improve the comparative information provided to consumers on vehicle rollover.
