Get Ready for Holiday Cooking and Eating
At this time of year more than any other, the kitchen becomes the focus of frenzied activity. It's also a time when it's important to take deep breaths, relax, and have fun. Here are a few tips to help you do just that.
  • Before you cook even one holiday recipe, remove kitchen clutter, making as much room as you can for holiday preparations. Cast a cold, hard eye on those kitchen counters. Pack away the chicken-shaped egg timer you haven't used since last Easter, or consolidate the four crocks of whisks and wooden spoons into one. Get out a large cardboard box and fill it with all the things you won't need, and stash the box in the attic or basement.
  • Attack the refrigerator. Discard everything that's past its prime, especially containers full of science experiments. Make space to chill bowls of cookie dough, batches of eggnog, and perishable food gifts you may receive.

    • paper lunch bags
    • scissors
    • decorations of choice
Take a brown or white lunch bag cut a v out of the top with construction paper cut out ears and glue on to the top of bag make whiskers and draw a face or make one and put a handle at the top and instead of children carrying a big easter basket they can carry around their homemade bag
submitted by annonymous Easter Baskets I did this craft with a group of children ages 4-8 years old. They LOVED IT!!!!!!!
    • wooden strawberry baskets (1 quart size)
    • pastel poster paints in many different Easter Colours
    • paint brushes 1 for each child
    • LOTS of rinse water!!!!!!!
    • small kitchen sized garbage bags
    • Easter grass in many colours
The garbage bags make great paint smocks when your in a pinch. Simply cut a slit in the top large enough for the child's head, measure where their arms would be and cut two slits for the arm holes and HEY! You have instant paint smocks!! We saved ours, but you can toss yours its up to you. Give each child a basket, and a paint brush. Scatter the paint colours and the rinse water cups around the table to encourage sharing and conversation.

Spring is such a wonderful time of year. The foliage is starting to green and bulbs are blooming, exposing beautiful and vibrant colors. This gives us the signal that Easter is just around the corner. Spring is a time of renewal and spring celebrations are a special part of this joyous season.
There are many different cultures that celebrate the arrival of spring with carefully prepared decadent meals that are rich in symbolism. Whatever religious affiliation, there are special ways to make the Easter and Passover season a delight.
In addition to the onset of spring changing our surroundings and chasing away those winter blues. It also marks the time to change some of our kitchen creations. It's a great time to shift from making cold weather soups, stews and comfort foods to trying new recipes with pizzazz.
Whenever a holiday is approaching my Mother and I call each other and talk at length about the menu we are going to prepare for the upcoming celebration. Last week there was this exact call. What shall we prepare for Easter Brunch? At the end of our call our mouths were watering in anticipation of the following delicious Easter brunch. Each year for Easter we like to prepare different menus. We have so many wonderful recipes in our database it's fun to make as many as possible. Here are more delicious ideas for Easter and Passover:
