To configure your preferences, first you click on the "Preferences" Icon , then you will move between preferences using the internal bar at the top of each dialog box.
Mailboxes The Preferences Window first opens showing you the Mailbox Options Dialog. Here you can select:
    • How many email messages occur between function bars in the View Messages display.
    • How often the program checks for new messages. ITS recommends since pressing the "View Messages" button does a manual check for new messages whenever you want.
    • What size text you view messages in.

Send If you select the Send Options dialog, you can choose to save a copy of messages you send. If you select "Yes", you should then choose the folder to save the copies. If you need to, first see Folder Options to create a new folder.

    Sending email from Flash 5
    Introduction
This TechNote describes a method for sending e-mail from a Flash 5 movie. For steps on sending email from a Flash 4 movie see How to create a button that will send e-mail messages (Technote 14072). Note: This method requires that the Web browser in which the movie is running be configured to send e-mail. Most, but not all, browsers support this feature . Also, some decide to disable their browser's e-mail feature for security reasons. If sending e-mail is an optional movie feature then this method provides a quick and easy way to accomplish that. However, if the ability to send e-mail is a requirement for a Flash movie then a more robust and reliable technique is to use a CGI form mailer or similar server-side application. For more information on this technique refer to Using Flash with a CGI form mailer (TechNote 14158). Launch an e-mail composition window from a Flash button
A button in Flash can have an action assigned that will launch an e-mail composition window with an address already specified. Assign the Get URL action to the button
The Get URL action can be used to link to an e-mail address. By adding additional parameters, the resulting e-mail browser window can be configured with pre-written text in the subject line or body of the message. Browser support for e-mail parameters varies. If unsupported parameters are encountered, the browser will ignore them.

  • 1. What are Newsgroups? Background A newsgroup is basically an area of the Internet where you can talk to other Internet users. You can leave messages or answer messages left by other members of the group. You do not formally have to apply to join a newsgroup, you just need to know where to find them - which as there are so many can be a problem! Before sending a message to a newsgroup, first get to understand what the group is about. Most groups publish a list of FAQ’s (Frequently Asked Questions). You should read these before participating as this will save you possible embarrassment! The phrase Netiquette is used to describe good behavior within a group. If you post the same message to many groups, or if you post irrelevant messages you will be deluged by irate members of the Internet accusing you of 'SPAM' - You have been warned! Back to top
