A satyrical look at many of the issues in the pin trading community. DON'T go here if you are easily offended. A place where people can post the equestrian pins for which they are searching in hopes that someone may have the pin they need. Under construction but does include some cool equestrian gifts many of which are non-pin related. Yes, we do occasionally have non-equestrian pins for trade. You can find some of our traders here. HORSES IN SPORTS Horses have been involved in sports and competition for centuries. Communication between riders and mounts has advanced to such a degree of sophistication, that in its highest form, the " " (High School), riders and horses perform amazing feats of elegance. The represents the most advanced form of equitation , the art of riding on horseback. Below are listed some of the past and present sports involving horses.
Scythian Equestrian Sports
The Scythians were an Iron Age culture (700-200 B.C.), that is credited with creating equitation. They held equestrian games involving skill trials, that were a kind of ancient rodeo.
Greek Equestrian Sports
The Greeks admired the equestrian skills of the Scythians , and became very enthusiastic about some equestrian events. They held horse races in hippodromes , where two-horse chariot races were held starting in 1,200 B.C., and quadriga (four-horse chariot) races were held around 680 B.C.. Chariot races became an olympic event at the XXV Olympiad, and bareback horse races were added for the XXXIII Olympiad.
The most important greek contribution was however the establishment of first standards for equitation and for humane treatment of equines. An athenian knight, Simon, wrote the first book on equitation around 400 B.C.. However, the most important early work on the subject was by Xenophon (430-354 B.C.), who was a macedonian cavalry officer for both Phillip the Great and his son Alexander the Great.

Why Too Many Olympic Sports Are Neither
    By Jonathon Kahn
Posted Wednesday, July 12, 2000, at 8:30 PM PT
The modern Olympics has consisted of an eclectic and heady mix: archery and equestrian, track and field and swimming, wrestling and weightlifting. But where the Olympics' eclecticism was once a strength, today's version of diversity is its greatest flaw. While people often complain about the opening up of the Olympiad to professionals or the lavishing of vast inequities of attention, prestige, and money on different sports, the real problem is the inclusion of two (occasionally overlapping) categories: 1) Events, often high-profile, for which the Olympics is not that sport's premier competition. These are nothing more than gussied-up exhibitions. 2) Events that are called sports but really aren't. Call these the bogus or silly sports. The combination of the two does ruthless damage to the notion that the Olympics celebrates world-class contests of athletic excellence. Equally ridiculous are the bogus events. Everyone's favorite is synchronized swimming, which
