Make it known on the Discussion Forum Statistical data on religious affiliation, like those on ethnic groups, are unreliable. Most Orthodox Christians are Amhara and Tigray, two groups that together constitute more than 40 percent of the population. When members of these two groups are combined with others who have accepted Orthodoxy, the total Christian population might come to roughly 50 percent of all Ethiopians Muslims have been estimated to constitute 40 percent of the population. The largest ethnic group associated with Islam is the Somali. Several other much smaller Islamic groups include the Afar, Argobba, Hareri, Saho, and most Tigrespeaking groups in northern Eritrea. Oromo also constitute a large proportion of the total Muslim population. There are also Muslims in other important ethnic categories, e.g., the Sidamo speakers and the Gurage. In the far north and the east, and to some extent in the south, Islamic peoples surround Orthodox Christians

National Parks Eucalyptus planted hillside T he land of Ethiopia provides an extraordinary variety of landscapes, with its huge and lofty central plateau area contrasting totally with its hot deserts and Rift Valley lakes . Five times the size of Great Britain, Ethiopia is home not only to nearly a hundred different tribes, each with its own language, but also to an astonishing array of animal and bird life, much of it unique to this wonderful country. The GondarLink Guide tells of modern and developing cities as well as myriad simple towns and villages spread all over this often inaccessible land. While water is frequently in short supply, major rivers cut through the Ethiopian countryside, cascading far below ranges of towering Simien mountains mountains with challenging individual peaks such as Ras Dashen in the north. Here you can also read of Ethiopia's immediate neighbours in this now land-locked land where local border disputes are commonplace. Ethiopia has been very forward looking in its creation of many national parks in which are preserved some 28 species of unique animals such as the Gelada baboon and the Simien fox and around 30 endemic birds that attract birdwatchers from all over the world.
