MBA Program
For information on MBA Admissions call 973/353-1234 The Rutgers MBA Program offers students an educational experience that is relevant and will stay with them throughout their careers. While at the Graduate School of Management, MBA students are exposed to an array of decision-making and problem-solving tools. They develop a set of skills with broad applicability in a wide variety of business situations, and they leave Rutgers equipped to handle demanding management assignments that require analysis, creativity, and leadership. Concentrations Rutgers MBA students are encouraged, but not required, to select a formal concentration, which will be noted on their final transcripts. A concentration represents a specialized field of study that students find extremely relevant and useful in pursuing their own particular career objectives. Full or Part-Time Study for the Rutgers MBA. In selecting the program that best suits an individual's professional needs and personal responsibilities, Rutgers students can be secure in the knowledge that they will have access to the same high-quality business education no matter what choice they make. Full-time students are admitted to the Graduate School of Management in September of each year and attend classes on either the Newark or New Brunswick campus. Most students attend school during the fall and spring trimesters and use the summers for internships or other valuable employment opportunities. Typically, they receive their degrees in twenty-two months. By attending summer classes, it is possible to complete the program in less time.

WSI Internet Survival Training Before focusing on succession, develop a strategic plan for growing the company. Entrepreneur magazine September 1997 By Patricia Schiff Estess Family businesses often think of strategic planning as succession planning. But the two are very different: If you don't know where your company is going, how do you know who should lead it there? That's why Paul Karofsky, director of Northeastern University's Center for Family Business in Dedham, Massachusetts, contends that before a family business focuses its attention on the issue of succession, it should concentrate on developing a strategic plan for growing the company. Just the words "strategic planning" are enough to raise skepticism in family business founders who see the process as a threat. It implies change and communication, two concepts entrepreneurs are not generally known for initiating or accepting easily. So a catalyst, such as the transfer of leadership from one generation to the next or the professionalization of the business by hiring nonfamily managers, is often needed to prompt a re-examination of the marketplace and the goals of the family and company.

WSI Internet Growing Global Expanding the family business overseas Entrepreneur magazine January 1997 By Patricia Schiff Estess No matter what business you're in, developing an international market "isn't just more of the same," says Peter Cherry. As chairman and president of The Cherry Corp., an international supplier of electrical switches, keyboards, displays and semiconductors doing business from Asia to Eastern Europe, Cherry should know. And for a family business in particular, going global may pose additional concerns: Worry #1: How will increased capital demands affect the family shareholders' needs for liquidity?
