Beef Center Pork Center Grain Center Economics ... Homepage (FINPACK) Farm Financial Planning is Iowa State University Extension's farm financial analysis program. It consists of one-on-one financial counseling, a computerized analysis of farm business records, and referral to other extension programs or outside services that may be useful. To set up an appointment, contact the local extension office or ISU Extension farm management field specialist . Mike Duffy is the statewide coordinator for Farm Financial Planning. Dr. Duffy can be contacted at Department of Economics, 560 Heady Hall, Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa 50011 at 515-294-6160 or mduffy@iastate.edu Farm Financial Planning helps the farm management team evaluate the farm business so they can better determine whether or not a change is desirable. It provides financial evaluation of an in-depth plan for the farm business so the operator and/or lender can make decisions for the future. It helps answers three basic questions of sound business management from a financial perspective. Where am I today? Where do I want to be in the future? How do I get there? A trained extension associate or farm management specialist meets with the family to input the financial data then discuss the results of the analysis and the possible effects if changes are made. The extension worker will generally introduce other farm and family financial materials or information about outside sources of help.

Enterprise budgets are a very handy tool when planning a new enterprise or determining the profitability of an existing enterprise. We can either use a standard enterprise budget as a template for a specific farm business, or we can design a new enterprise budget that takes your unique circumstances into consideration. Current projects Description: The compilation of enterprise budgets for potato growers in the snack food industry.
Project leader: Wessel Lemmer Description: The management and maintenance of the Micro COMBUD program.
