http://cwis.livjm.ac.uk/artschool/html_site/fashion_pages/fashion_main.html
Cultural diversity is a feature of life in Liverpool. Imagery and inspiration plucked from all over the globe jostles for attention in the work of the students on the Fashion and Textile programme. The programme is diverse, free-ranging, broad in scope and allows a large degree of individual expression and creativity. It is highly creative, has energy, flexibility, breadth and freedom of approach which encourages diversity, individuality and dynamism.
Ideas flow freely in the creative city that has so many connections with artists, musicians and poets. The Liverpool course encourages this individualism and energy, polishing and adding profession know-how to the final product.
The first year operates at an introductory level acquainting students with appropriate practical skills and providing methods of applying this knowledge via a variety of tasks. Level 2 begins to put their work into the broader context of their immediate industry. Live projects and international exhibitions take their work out into the marketplace.
At Level 3 students take charge of their learning via the Statement of Intent which firms up their individual approach to the subject and allows for a period of personal concentration and identity. Throughout all levels contextual studies is matched against the studio practice and at Level 3 culminates in the dissertation module.
