Public Records Disclosure
In 1972 the voters in Washington adopted Initiative 276, which requires that most records maintained by state, county and city governments be made available to members of the public for inspection and copying. The public disclosure laws have been frequently revised over the past 25 years. Primarily located in Chapter 42.17 of the Revised Code of Washington (RCW), at RCW 42.17.250 through 42.17.348 , the statutes are sometime collectively referred to as the public disclosure act or the state freedom of information act.

General Information Environmental protection is guaranteed under law. Laws are made from common, case, and legislative law. It is important for ordinary citizens to have access to and understand our complex and confusing array of laws and regulations. Often citizens demand more laws, when the laws they demand already exist. At times, the laws are in conflict with each other or regulations or policy. A chronic problem in the United States is that our environmental laws are often not enforced by both federal and state government authorities. The prevailing law should be the one at the top of the food chain. TYPES OF LAW:
  • COMMON LAW - Based on tradition, accepted practices, and/or court decisions

Civil rights can be defined in the simplest terms as our personal liberties or rights. Civil rights enforcement is the means by which the State of Maine protects those rights. THE MAINE CIVIL RIGHTS ACT
In the State of Maine, the Attorney General enforces the Maine Civil Rights Act, a civil statute that authorizes the Attorney General to seek restraining orders against persons who commit violence, threats of violence, or property damage motivated by bias. These restraining orders are intended to ensure that the people in this State are afforded the rights guaranteed to them by the United States Constitution, and the Constitution and laws of Maine. GENERAL COMMENTS

A statute is a law enacted by the legislature, be it federal legislature (the Congress), a state legislature in one of the fifty states (Indiana General Assembly), or some other entity such as a territorial legislature (Guam) or a foreign nation (Japan or France).
In the United States, statutes are enacted one at a time, each one as an individual entity (examples: Public Law 99-1; P.L. 99-2; P.L. 99-3; and so on). For example, P.L. 99-35 would indicate the 35th law enacted by the 99th Congress.) Each individual statute may be divided into many sections (example: sections 101, 102, 103, or 301, 302, 303). A single statute may deal with many related (and sometimes even unrelated) topics.
The reason we say statutes are enacted "as an entity" is that shortly after enactment most statutes are reorganized and each section renumbered in a subject arrangement (code, codification, or compilation). During codification, each statute ( originally enacted as a single entity) may be pulled apart into many pieces, each one placed at a different place in the codification or compilation. Thus, a statute will have two principal forms: one where the single law or entity is fresh from enactment; and the other in which the single statute is pulled apart, its sections renumbered, and the sections scattered at a number of places in a subject-arranged set (the code or codification).

Introduction and Overview
This file organizes and presents state laws on juvenile record privacy. It is designed to assist state and local juvenile justice agencies when implementing interagency agreements. The reader should quickly be able to determine what the law of his/her state permits and requries as to juvenile record sharing. Not all states will have identical laws. A reader looking for trends in state juvenile record sharing will find this data difficult to navigate. It is possilbe to determine with some accuracy what the majority of the states prefer in this regard by simply reading through the entire list. However, this data is not designed primairly for this purpose. Agency personnel for a particular state will find the main statutes along with selected provisions that paint a clear picture of the current state of the law.
