The Ba Zi - A Working Guide to the Four Pillars This section has been designed for those who want to learn more about the so called, Pillars of Destiny. This is perhaps the quintessential Chinese Horoscope, based on the Eight Characters which represent a person's time of birth. Many Chinese Feng Shui Masters use the Ba Zi, or Eight Characters, to determine if their client is in a favourable "luck period", or more correctly, "Fate Period". Many people view this as astrology, but it has more in common with metaphysics, than with astrology as we know it. Like Feng Shui, this uses the principles of yin and yang and the 5 elements in order to determine how these affect us as individuals. The Pillars of Destiny - Based on The Ten Thousand Year Calendar For optimum enjoyment this Web Site is best viewed in 760 x 420 setting A Basic Introduction to The Pillars of Destiny If you have heard of these but are not quite sure what they are, or what they are used for, this basic introduction will answer all your questions. This section looks at their origins and why they remain as popular as ever, even after more than 1000 years of use, so read more about this fascinating subject.

The Year of The Goat The Chinese Year of the Water Goat began on February 4th. The Goat is a symbol of gentleness, patience, compassion and harmony. Its element is strong earth and is supported by fire, indicating earth-related problems will occur in dry areas of the world. The Chinese calendar has 60-year cycles and the last year of yin water goat was 1943, when the world was also troubled by war. Still the tide actually turned then and lead to settlement after D-day in '44. Is Feng Shui Superstitious?
by Howard Choy
Sydney, March 2000 The Oxford dictionary defines superstition as “any blindly accepted belief or notion”. So people who think Feng Shui is superstitious would think that Feng Shui is a belief or a notion entertained regardless of any reason or logic. Is this the case? Is it true that Feng Shui is just a belief? Is its analysis without reason or a theoretical framework? Feng Shui is not superstitious… On the other hand… To say that Feng Shui is completely devoid of superstition is not true either. There are many examples of gross misinterpretations of the metaphysics, the classic example being an old Feng Shui method called “Wu-Yin-Xing-Li” – interpreting the auspiciousness of a dwelling according to the five sounds of an owner’s surname. This method was severely criticized by Han Dynasty scholar Wang-Chong (born 27 AD) and subsequently dropped out of Feng Shui practice.

Geomancy , commonly known as "Feng-Shui", has a four thousand years history dating back to ancient China. Chinese legend told of a giant tortoise, bearing the nine-grid Lo Shu Diagram on its shell, emerged to the surface of water and surprised the people around. The discovery of the Lo Shu Diagram promoted the further development of Feng-Shui.
According to official Chinese historical records , "Hemjy" (another name for Geomancy meaning heaven and earth) was first known in SiGei in Han Dynasty. (SiGei is the first proper historical record in China.) The four famous gurus in Tang and Sung Dynasties including the well known Lai Bo Ee further developed and enhanced the application and popularity of Feng-Shui. Up to Yuen, Ming, and Ching Dynasties, gurus Chiang Tai Hung and Sim Chuk Nai dominated the period. They developed and formulated important criteria for the Three Phases and Nine-Bi-Decades Theory. Sim in his important writing, Sim's Metaphysics Theory stated that Feng-Shui has a revolving characteristic of effects in different directions and periods due to the changing of the nine flying stars in the Three Phases and Nine-Bi-Decades periods.
Feng-Shui is the product of thousand years' experience of Chinese, the 5 elements (Water, Fire, Wood, Metal, Earth) knowledge, Hexagram and the Nine Flying Stars. A person's destiny and fortune after birth is fixed by his/her birth time, and Feng-Shui is one of the tools that affect or modify or adjust your fortune, and may ultimately help to achieve your expectations.

Feng Shui and colour Light is energy Colour is light Colour is energy
We instantly get a boost of energy and surge of newly found optimism and happiness just by thinking of the holiday lights, gift wrapping and food of all colours and taste! Recognizing the healing power of colour (through wearing certain colours, eating certain type of food of a specific colour, and shining coloured light on particular parts of the body) and using it for the benefit of altering discomfort from certain disease has been practiced by many thousands of years ago, especially by the Egyptians. The use of colour in ancient cultures was closely connected to their understanding of the universe and its workings- on the physical as well as spiritual plane. Although Chinese culture is intertwined with the use of certain colour symbolism that can still be found in Feng Shui principles, in every day use Feng Shui looks at colour from a very practical point of view, based on metaphysical principles. In the Tao Te Ching we read that everything in this Universe (also called the Ten Thousand things) can be described according to the Yin and Yang and the Five Phases of Energy (otherwise called Five Elements Theory). The hot, warm tones of colours are always considered to be yang (red, orange, yellow) compared to the cooler tones (blue, brown, green, grey), which are more yin. Going further into metaphysics red, orange, purple and pink represents fire; green symbolizes wood; blue and black the element water; and the earth tones and yellow earth.

The health of your home or office even your love life and career success might depend on it. So says feng shui, or at least a couple of Land O'Lakes practitioners of the Chinese art that purports to cure what's ailing your architecture.
