In the past, liability coverage for sports was either too costly, too limited, or not available at all. Individuals were either forced to pay extremely high insurance premiums or to run programs without proper insurance protection, therefore running the risk of personal exposure to lawsuits or a participant's injury claim. However, now a comprehensive program has been developed to specifically cover the inherent risks involved in running a sports league or team. This Liability Insurance Program is designed to help eliminate the financial and emotional burden one can incur as a result of a lawsuit or participant injury claim. An Accident Medical Policy With At Least A $10,000.00 Benefit Is Required The Liability Coverage ($1,000,000.00 Coverage)

Current head coaches Cheryl Murtagh (field hockey) and Willette White (women's basketball level, coaching with the national teams in their respective sports.
    http://www.gonu.com/general.html
Northeastern University is an integral part of the New England sports community, fielding 19 varsity teams in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I sports as well as other teams and individuals in national and international arenas. The university's teams, nicknamed the Huskies, are also some of the region's most successful. See the bottom of the page for team-specific notes. NU also plays host to some of the biggest collegiate evnts. Northeastern hosted the NCAA field hockey championship at Parsons Field in 1994 and 1999. Northeastern, along with Harvard, will host the 2006 NCAA Women's Basketball Final Four at the FleetCenter in Boston. The 2001 Women's Hockey National Championship semifinals and finals were played at Matthews Arena. NU and Matthews Arena will hosted the 2002 America East Men's Basketball Championship and will co-host the 2003 event with Boston University at Walter Brown Arena. Northeastern teams compete as part of the America East Conference, with some exceptions: Football plays in the tough Atlantic 10 Conference, while the men's and women's hockey teams compete in Hockey East, the nation's premier league. There's little question that Northeastern's conferences are also making great strides. In the 1998-99 season, the Atlantic 10 had the I-AA football champion (Massachusetts), Hockey East member Maine won the national title, and America East sent five of its members to NCAA postseason play in basketball. In 2000-01 Boston College, a member of Hockey East, won the NCAA men's hockey national title. In women's hockey, the Huskies formerly played in the ECAC, which provided three of the final four teams both in 1998 and '99 and two of the teams in 2000 and '01. The 2002-03 season brings the inaugural year of women's Hockey East play.

ALEXANDRIA, VA., Aug. 28, 1996 Fond memories of "cannonballing" into the lake and playing sandlot baseball games with the neighborhood kids waft through our minds of summers past. Nowadays, kids are involved in more sedate activities, like browsing the Web or channel surfing the TV, as ways to pass the dog days of summer. With school bells ringing once again, however, kids need to be involved in more active pastimes than dodging detention. The American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) is urging children of all ages to show their school spirit by joining a team sport not only for its exercise benefits, but to develop healthy habits that will continue throughout their lives. For many children, team sports like field hockey, soccer, and basketball enable them to stay physically active on a regular basis. The current trend of adolescents toward a more sedentary lifestyle could contribute to such future health problems as heart disease. And there are psychological as well as physical benefits to keeping fit. Building self-esteem and camaraderie and developing problem-solving skills in a team setting are a few of the bonuses kids receive through team sports.

In 1999, the Levinsons made our "Field of Dreams" a reality with their donation of a first class magnificent new Astroturf facility to Stanford Field Hockey. Kathy, a Stanford Field Hockey alumna and standout player from 1973 through 1976.
    Phase I
Construction began in June '98 on the new AstroTurf field. Phase I was completed in 1999. Placed between the softball diamond and the football practice fields, the new turf field is centrally located near the main University athletic facilities. Phase II
Plans for this world-class facility include lighting systems, landscaping, storage, restroom and locker facilities, and permanent bleacher seating. These items will be included in Phase II of the field construction, which will cost approximately $750,000. The Friends of Stanford Field Hockey are encouraging women's sports supporters, whether you are an alum or a parent of a female athlete or just someone who champions womens' sports in general, to consider a contribution to the Phase II costs. A show of support from many "voices", whether large or small, will go a long way to securing the field hockey team's priority status on the field, rather than see it revert to a general use or football practice field. Or if you would like more information
