NCSR Model Articulation Agreements
It has been made clear by the Center’s advisory committees and employment sector partners that it is important for technical education programs to articulate to the highest degrees possible with high schools and four-year colleges and universities. These “articulation agreements” will best suit students’ needs as they enter the twenty-first century workforce. Articulate: To unite by or as if by joints (The New Merriam-Webster Dictionary, 1989)
In education, the term is used to describe, linkages in various levels of education (e.g., two-year colleges and four-year colleges, etc.) The Center has developed many articulations; two “model articulation agreements” follow: I. A model for articulation: community college and university Grays Harbor College’s (GHC) two-year fisheries program and University of Washington’s (UW) School of Fisheries The Chain of Events
GHC’s Fisheries Technology program has experienced limited success over almost two decades with GHC graduates receiving transfer credit from UW. At best, two or more GHC fisheries courses would transfer as one of UW’s beginning courses.

The Program
The overall goal of the Fisheries Biology Program is to provide students with the knowledge, skills and motivation required to ensure the conservation of fish and aquatic resources that are faced with increasing societal demands and increasing loss of habitat. We stress development of a field-based understanding of the relationships between freshwater and marine fishes and the habitats upon which they depend, but our program is broad enough to provide specialized training in fish population dynamics and fishery management, restoration ecology, systematics, marine and freshwater aquaculture, fish health management, water pollution biology and wastewater utilization, and aquarium sciences. Each of these areas has its own important role to play in the overall conservation of fish resources. Fisheries Biology students have on-campus facilities for hands-on studies: a recirculating freshwater fish hatchery, rearing ponds, spawning pens, an artificial stream, and modern laboratories for study of fish genetics, pathology, taxonomy, ecology, and age and growth. Also on campus is the California Cooperative Fishery Research Unit, supported by both state and federal government, and a large fish museum collection.

INTRODUCTION
Kagoshima Prefectural Kagoshima Fisheries Senior High School.
Hello, this is Kagoshima Prefectural Kagoshima Fisheries High School. We would like to take this opportunity to introduce this school which enjoys bathing in bright sunshine on a rocky seacoast. Features of this school:
This school is the only high school in Kagoshima Prefecture which majors in fishery.
It was established as a prefectural mercantile marine fishery high school in 1910 and an excellent tradition has been cultivated in its brilliant history of 88 plus years as an educational organization for bringing up the successors of a regional fishery industry and related industries.
It has accomplished steady development supported by the efforts and the sponsorship of the relevant people of the regional community.
The graduates now number over 7,000. They are working not only in the fishery field but also in other fields in Kagoshima as well as in other areas in Japan.
It is located on extensive school grounds (170,000 square meters) in Beppu, Makurazaki City. Its educational facilities include physical education gyms, martial arts pavilions, swimming pools, extensive gardens and wooded areas, boat houses and dormitories.

SAFETY COURSES
Hunters and trappers in Maine must attend training courses specific to the license type they wish to purchase. By state law, anyone planning to buy a basic hunting license, archery license, or trapping license, must complete the respective hunter, bow hunter, or trapper education course. Individuals may purchase each of these licenses by showing a certificate of completion from the appropriate course, or a previously issued license of the same type. If you would like to refresh your knowledge of safe and responsible hunting, then taking a hunter education course is a great idea. Would you like to learn how to safely operate a snowmobile, ATV or boat? In order to operate an ATV under 16 years of age, you must complete an approved ATV Safety Course.
