Sreedhar of Academy for Mountain Environics an organisation working in the Garhwal Himalayas on a variety of issues as an institution and in collaboration several other local groups and directly with the communities. Following the various actions by the New Zealand Labour Government in 1999 and 2000 to prematurely curtail an environment court hearing of the application by Timberlands West Coast Ltd to sustainably manage 98,000 hectares of the state indigenous beech forest it was charged with managing, to remove beech forest sustainable management from the goals of the Company, and to rescind several contracts most notable of which was the West Coast Accord (by special Act of Parliament) without compensation to the private companies concerned, and to make a special grant of $NZ 120,000,000 to the 4 territorial councils and the regional council of the West Coast: the Primary Production Select Committee is to carry out a Parliamentary Inquiry into sustainable forest management.

October 14, 2002 Forestry Management Practices Field Tour SALUDA-Forest landowners are invited to participate in a Best Management Practices Field Tour at 5 p.m. on Thursday, October 17, 2002. The tour will begin at the Hollywood Ruritan Building in Saluda. Tom Patton, Best Management Practices Compliance Officer with the South Carolina Forestry Commission, and Harold Arrington, Forester with Resource management, will conduct the tour. The field tour will include viewing proper streamside management zone layout, road construction, proper log deck location, and water bar construction-all designed to help landowners comply with the U.S. Clean Air and Water Act. The tour will be following by a sponsored supper at the Hollywood Ruritain Building.
