This is where Tift Home Design has been providing quality home design and drafting services for over a decade. Known as the "Sierra Foothills", the county encompasses areas between the city of Sacramento and scenic South Lake Tahoe, along the highway 50 corridor and highway 49, the golden chain highway. Spectacular scenery abounds from the granite peaks of the high sierra, to the meadows and rolling hills of the Sacramento valley. The area has been rich in history since the gold rush days, and provides unlimited year round recreational activities including snow sports, river rafting, boating and fishing, four wheeling, hiking, and camping. Although truly a four season area, a wide range of elevation supplies many choices regarding climate and topography, and the diverse local agriculture includes fruit orchards, vegetable and tree farms, and some of the best wine country in California. In this area of varying terrain and enchanted surroundings, designing the home you require can command a delicate balance of form and function that only local expertise can guarantee. We maintain a close relationship with local building officials, keeping abreast of any new code changes, and our association with a team of local surveyors, geologists, structural engineers, and energy specialists, allows us to offer you a quality package of drawings and site specific data that will make the process of getting your building permits as painless as possible. But getting all of the technical requirements right the first time is only half of the process. We have helped in the design of homes for hundreds of people over the years, and each individual's needs and wants are unique. We take pride in our ability to help you achieve your ultimate dream of a new home. We strive to make our relationship with you as personal as possible. To get to know your needs and wants, and incorporate them into a real design that fits your life style as well as your budget. From custom homes to simple tract housing, we've done it all, and all with the same commitment to service and quality.

Fun Treks Guidebooks About the Author: Charles A. Wells graduated from Ohio State University in 1969 with a degree in Graphic Design. After practicing design in Ohio, he moved to Colorado Springs in 1980 and worked 18 years in the printing business. Over the years, he and his wife, Beverly, and his family enjoyed a wide array of recreational activities including hiking, biking, rafting, and skiing. He bought his first SUV in 1994 and began exploring places he was previously not able to reach in the family sedan. He later joined a four- wheel-drive club and bought a second vehicle which he modified for more serious four-wheeling. He became frustrated when he could not find a clear, simple backroad guide to Colorado; so he decided to write his own. His first book, Guide to quickly became the top-selling guidebook in Colorado and soon spawned Volume 2. Books on Moab, UT and Arizona have followed. Today, Charles works fulltime on managing his publishing company and working on new books. Look for him on the trail.

March 31 - April 6 every Monday and Saturday . All the students will have plenty of activities to keep them busy. This past Wednesday to Friday, part of the sophomore class went to the Linsly Outdoor Center ( LOC ). Students had a choice of rock climbing, mountain biking, or canoeing. All day students were occupied with one of these activities. When they returned to LOC. they were treated to an excellent dinner prepared by the LOC dining crew. After dinner different activities were arranged. The highlight was the campfire Thursday night. Students had a blast performing skits for their peers and the LOC counselors. Since the week had been hectic the students decided they wanted a chance to relax this weekend. Friday was movie night in the dorms. There was a choice of funny and scary movies and pizzas were ordered for the students. On Saturday the Linsly Varsity Baseball team played a double-header against Kiski at home. Even though the weather had cooled, the attendance and enthusiasm were red hot. That night the students went to the mall so they could purchase any necessary items and see a movie. With less than a couple months in the school year left, students will have plenty of activities and work to fill their time. This article by Keith Norbury appeared in the February 9 edition of the Goldstream News Gazette Because of the unfortunate term used in the opening paragraph, we asked the Gazette to print a correction. It was important to us that the editor (and anyone else who read the article), realized that this choice of words puts off-highway driving in a bad light. This correction was printed the following week: Though this correction went a long way to address the "boony crashing" comment, I felt that the other people who were interviewed in the original article made some unfair comments as well, so I sent the following letter to the editor, which was printed in the Goldstream News Gazette on Wednesday, March 8, 2000. March 1, 2000 Dear Editor, In regard to the "Off Road Riders seek Park Place" article on page A3 of the February 9, 2000 edition of the Goldstream News Gazette , I would like to clarify a few points:
In the first paragraph, the sport of off-highway driving is referred to as "boony crashing". This term is disparaging and inaccurate. I appreciate and thank you for the correction that was printed the following week in the February 16th edition.
However, in the February 9 article, Ray Zimmerman, who advocates the acquisition of the Harbourview area for the Sea-to-Sea Greenbelt, suggests "there are an awful lot of roads and logging trails in the country to tear around in". This is simply untrue.

Woodland Park,
Colorado
"City Above the Clouds" THE HISTORY OF WOODLAND PARK The history of Woodland Park is typically that of a small community in the mountains, favored with a good location and able to respond to changing situations. This combination of favorable location and ability to respond has resulted in periods of rapid growth since 1891. This growth has been directed in a positive way to protect the natural beauty of the area as well as the residents. Woodland Park has become a city where modern convenience blends well with historic charm. The location of Woodland Park is its greatest asset. The city is located on a high, broad plateau between 8,200 and 9,000 feet above sea level and offers "the best view of Pikes Peak". It is also at the junction of Ute Pas and a valley system that extends north of the city, providing a well-drained town site and favorable access to Colorado Springs and Pikes Peak to the southeast, Denver to the north, and mountain recreation areas in all directions. Nature has been lavish in her donations to Woodland Park, the town taking its name from the thickly wooded hills and valleys on every side. Stately pines and spruce of prolific growth form a perfect forest for miles around, in a grand picturesque scene. Looking to the south the view is spectacular. Pikes Peak with her colossal sheds stands in bold relief against the blue sky, her snowy crest above the clouds. The canyon of Fountain Creek, with its rugged borders, flows to the plains. The easy access to all of this through Ute Pass gives Woodland Park a unique place among the State resort areas.

75. Watch Out For Redds - Chehalis River Council
To be fair, fourwheeling in the stream is not the only recreational hatch duringmonths when redds are less likely to be disturbed by recreational activities.
http://www.crcwater.org/fish/usfwsredd.html
Please Watch Out for Salmon Redds
This past Memorial Day I went for an afternoon hike on one of my favorite Chehalis Basin streams. I found a few fossils, watched spotted sandpipers defending nesting territory, and saw strings of western toad eggs along the edge of the stream. I was especially happy to discover a couple dozen steelhead nests (redds) in the gravel. I also found one steelhead carcass, which goes to show that not all steelhead survive to spawn again. Most of the redds, over a 3-4 mile reach, had been flagged by spawner-survey crews. The latest date I saw written on a flag was May 13th, and this was May 25th. Now for the bad news: Someone had ridden a four wheel ATV right through several of the redds. I won't tell you what my first thought was, but my second thought was that I knew what my next Drops of Water article would be about. I'm sure this person was just having fun, and would not have done anything on purpose that might kill the steelhead eggs incubating in the gravel. So perhaps a little information will do some good. To be fair, four-wheeling in the stream is not the only recreational activity that can disturb and kill salmon and steelhead eggs. Fishermen wading streams, swimmers, rockhounds looking for agates, and even rafters traversing shallow bars can all kill eggs in the gravel. Really, anyone who uses a stream has the potential to kill salmon eggs. Stepping on, riding through, or otherwise disturbing a redd can squash or fatally injure the eggs and newly hatched salmon (alevin) that are in the gravel. We just need to know what to look for, and avoid the places where salmon are likely to spawn.

Nestled between the majestic grandeur of Mt. Shorty and the pristine waters of Lake Tepid, lies Tepid City, Washington State, the heart of North Chester A. Arthur County. This vacation hotspot has been the travel destination for many generations, and provides many fine restaurants, hotels, museums, as well as other exciting things to see and do. Take the Theodore Robert Bundy Memorial Scenic Bighway north off Highway 2 out of Spokane, Washington to the Devil's Hairbrush National Forest. You are about to enjoy a vacation you and your family will never forget! HISTORY
The original inhabitants of the region were the Runamuk Indians, a peaceful band of hunters and fishers who made use of native materials for the arts and crafts which occupied much of their spare time. The area is also widely known as the place the Lewis And Clark Expedition missed, as Meriwether Lewis and William Clark bickered over what direction to take, and ended up travelling in a more southerly direction when they wouldn’t ask directions. For most of the first half of the 18th Century few white men visited the area, but those who did always left with a lovely souvenir provided by the Runamuks. THE CITY
Tepid City is a medium to small city of around 4400 people. Mayor Luke Warm heads the government, which is unusual in that his position is hereditary. The City Council is chosen at random every four years by a drawing held on election day. This is followed by the Leech Festival that lasts through Thanksgiving.
