Improve school completion To achieve these goals, OEA's major purpose is the establishment of performance-based accountability standards for all of Georgia's education system, from prekindergarten through postsecondary grades (P-16). OEA also has responsibility for development of reports centering on education workforce issues. This is the third annual report on Georgia's public K-12 schools. OEA hopes that the information contained in this report and future reports will be used to make positive changes in education that will support teachers and help parents and students. 2001-2002 Report Card: This report card contains test results as well as other information relevant to schools and their performance toward the goals of student achievement and school completion. OEA has developed a phased-in timeline for the assignment of school grades and ratings that will be issued beginning in 2003.     Helping to Bridge the Technology Gap 3rd Annual Cajun Swamp Fête More Information Tech Corps Georgia TCGA is a nonprofit organization based in East Point, Georgia, just south of Atlanta. It is the official Tech Corps chapter for the State of Georgia.¹ Tech Corps Georgia 's programs, Computer Refurbishing and K-12 Outreach Programs, have provided computers and training to over 500 hundred teachers and low-income families with children in Georgia's K-12 schools.

    Tech Corps Georgia ’s mission is to help insure that Georgia’s K-12 students, families and educators, living and working in low-income communities, have access to the technology tools and resources needed to compete in the schools and workforces of today and the future. This mission is accomplished by bringing additional technology resources to classrooms, homes, and communities through local programs; bringing technology skills and expertise to underprivileged residents through volunteers, and building partnerships among educators, businesses, and community members at the local and state levels.

Chartered as an affiliate of TECH CORPS since 1998, TCGA is headquartered in East Point in a 14,000 square foot facility located in the Wagon Works building. The facility houses administrative offices, two 16-position computer training and access labs, a computer refurbishing area and a partially completed simulated computer networking lab.

    Red Cedar Writing Project Teachers meet four weeks in an invitational institute during the summer to share best practices. This project is built on the premise that teachers helping teachers is among the most effective ways to improve educational practice. Project Outreach The teachers affiliated with the Red Cedar Writing Project have joined teachers in California, New Mexico, Alaska, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Louisiana, West Virginia, Georgia, Mississippi, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, Oklahoma, and Nevada in Project OUTREACH, funded by DeWitt Wallace and the National Writing Project. Each of the eighteen project sites are conducting research focusing on the particular professional development needs of teachers in low-income school districts and leadership opportunities for teachers who represent racial, ethnic or linguistic diversity.
