ABOUT THIS SITE This site was adapted from information compiled by William T. Murray from the holdings at the University of Georgia Libraries. It uses a database developed from his inventories of their mircrofilm collection as conducted in 1999. The data collected reflects general holdings for the years given, and does not imply that all dates within a year exist. Therefore, if only one date of one year was found, it was included in this data. Further research on your part will be needed to determine the exact dates available within a particular year. An effort will be made to update the database as time and resources allow but no warranty of completeness is promised.

ILL/Document Delivery Web Page
When searching the online catalogs of other libraries there are several things you need to keep in mind.
  • Not all library catalogs are created equal, which means that most will look completely different from ALCUIN (Furman University's library catalog.) These differences are mostly cosmetic.
  • The information available in each library catalog is basically the same. They all provide information on what materials that library owns. Most include journals the library subscribes to, and many include media and government documents the library collects.
  • They all allow you to search by title, author, and subject. Most allow keyword searching.
  • It is not always possible to visit these libraries in person. Visit the ILL/Document Delivery web page for information on how to obtain items not owned by the Furman University Libraries.

Endeavor Universal Catalog chosen for Georgia March 2000 Georgia libraries consortium shooses Voyager Universal Catalog to aid co-operation. Major Australian military library goes for Voyager. University System of Georgia Employs Universal Catalog to Create Virtual Library Press release: DES PLAINES, ILLINOIS, USA Mar. 29, 2000: Endeavor Information Systems announced today five libraries in the University System of Georgia (USG) are installing Voyager's Universal Catalog. An optional module to Voyager, Endeavor's integrated library management system, the Universal Catalog provides multi-database library consortia the ability to create a centralized union catalog. With the Universal Catalog, libraries provide quick and easy access to a larger world of research literature, have the resources to develop complementary collections, and decrease the number of mediated interlibrary loan requests, saving money and staff time. Participating in the initial implementation of the Universal Catalog are the Medical College of Georgia, Columbus State University, Coastal Georgia Community College, Bainbridge College and the University of Georgia. The remaining USG libraries will join the Universal Catalog throughout the summer.

The Latin American Library, located on the fourth floor of Tulane's Howard-Tilton Memorial Library , is one of the world's foremost collections of source materials in Latin American archaeology, anthropology, history, linguistics, art, architecture, film, women's studies, economics and many other subject areas. The collection was established in 1924 by the predecessor of the Middle American Research Institute . The initial focus was the archaeology, anthropology and history of Mesoamerica but after the collection was relocated to Howard-Tilton in the early 1960s, the scope was broadened to cover most subject disciplines and all of Latin America and the Caribbean. The collection is one of the most comprehensive of its kind, and includes materials from the pre-Conquest to the present day. Tulane's Latin American holdings amount to more than 400,000 volumes, with the Latin American Library accounting for about eighty percent of those. The Latin American literature collection is housed on the second floor and on the lakeside of the fourth floor, the Latin American science collection on the first floor, and the Architecture, Law, Medicine and Business libraries each collect Latin American materials in their respective fields.
