ATLANTA (May 4, 2000) Dr. Rita Gregory was recently selected as the recipient of the prestigious 1999 Tasker H. Bliss Medal by The Society for American Military Engineers (SAME). The Bliss Medal is awarded annually for an individual's outstanding contributions to military engineering education or for promoting recognition of the importance of technical leadership in the national defense establishment. The Bliss Medal will be presented to Gregory on May 18 at the SAME National Education and Training Conference in San Diego.
"I am very honored by this award," said Gregory. "The military services offer great opportunities for technology transfer and application of university research. The students we get from the Services are mature and focused. They bring good experience and projects for cross learning and research opportunities. The military services offer wonderful opportunities for internships and career education for our graduates. I am pleased to have the opportunity to serve our country in this manner." Gregory holds dual appointments in the Building Construction Program, College of Architecture, and the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Susan Scheff
Sue@HelpYourTeens.com President Sue Scheff is the Founder of Parents Universal Resources Expert’s, Inc. (P.U.R.E.). Originally from Pleasant Valley, New York, she relocated to Florida in 1985 with her family and resides in Weston.
For the past several years, she has devoted her time, energy and support to helping parents find healthy and safe environments for their children. With a background in business and finance combined with years experience in the medical field, she has created P.U.R.E. with the desire to help families.
This happened when she, as a single mother of two, experienced the turmoil of her own teenage daughter. She felt alone, hopeless, and spiraling downward. She surfed the Internet seeking guidance, and was directed into a program that misrepresented their organization in the worse way (see her true story on the homepage). They appeared under every search term entered, including Military Schools, which they don’t own. This type of marketing proved very detrimental.
This is what gives Sue her strong desire to help families find safe, qualified

Military veteran helps lead Georgia's economy
Harold Dye has, through study and experience, amassed a lifetime of knowledge spanning military tactics and history, the horrors of war, religious history, engineering and economic development. Now the retired Army brigadier general, ceramic engineer, industry and trade executive and self-made scholar shares that life learning with others in talks at schools, veterans groups and civic organizations around Georgia. When Dye enrolled at Georgia Tech, he joined the ROTC program, earning $8 a month, which he used to pay his Pi Kappa Phi fraternity dues. As a sophomore in 1937, Dye married Emma Jeanne Townley. Dye organized a rifle drill team for the ROTC program that practiced each day at 7 a.m. He also worked after classes at the Engineering Experiment Station for 75 cents an hour and served in the Army National Guard. After earning his ceramic engineering degree in 1940, Dye went to work for Babcock-Wilcox, a company in Augusta, Ga., that designed and built the boilers for the Navy’s battleships using a refractory brick fabricated with kaolin. In January 1942, Dye was commissioned to active duty as a second lieutenant in the Army.
