http://www.discoverylanguage.com/Test Yourself in English.htm
T est Y ourself in E nglish How well do you know English? English grammar uses words based on eight parts of speech: the verb, the noun, the pronoun, the adjective, the adverb, the preposition, the conjunction, and the interjection. Each part of speech explains not what the word is, but how the word is used. The same word can be a noun in one sentence and a verb or adjective in the next. NOUNS
Proper nouns are capitalized and include: name of a specific person, place, or thing, days of the week, months of the year, historical documents, institutions, organizations and religions, including their holy texts and their adherents.
A common noun is a noun referring in general to a person, place, or thing.
A concrete noun is a noun, that names anything (or anyone) you can perceive through your physical senses: touch, sight, taste, hearing, or smell.
An abstract noun is a noun, that names anything you cannot perceive through your five physical senses.
A countable noun (or count noun) is a noun with both a singular and a plural form, and it names anything (or anyone) that you can count.
A non-countable noun (or mass noun) is a noun that does not have a plural form, and that refers to something you could (or would) not usually count.

  • A lesson on Adjectives taught with Music - The students will broaden their knowledge about adjectives through using them to describe both objects and music. Adjective - For every picture write at least five adjectives. Try to make up sentences with them. Adjective? What's an Adjective? - This activity gives students the opportunity to think creatively and work in small groups. It provides a constructive out-of-seat activity and builds students' knowledge of adjectives or descriptive words and their use in creative writing. ADVERBILY - To provide a method of reinforcement for practicing the use of adverbs. Appropriate Use of Helping Verbs - Since it is very difficult for many students, especially special needs students, to remember which form of the verb to use with the helping verb, teaching them a contrived trick often helps them choose the correct form.
