Crock Carrying Case Ingredients: Vegetables Dense vegetables like potatoes, carrots, and other root vegetables should be cut no larger than 1" thick, and placed in the bottom of the pot, since they take longer to cook. Liquids Usually liquids may be decreased in slow cooking - about half the recommended amount. Unless the dish contains rice or pasta, one cup of liquid is usually enough. Pasta and Rice If a recipe calls for cooked pasta to be added, cook it until just slightly tender before adding to the pot. Add 1/4 extra liquid per 1/4 cup uncooked rice, and use long grain converted rice for the best results. For long-cooking recipes, add cooked rice shortly before serving.

Can you believe I haven't slipped up, either? No fish, fowl, or meat for me, except when I've been served it unknowingly. We moved to Philadelphia this summer (to be closer to family), and I haven't really desired a cheesesteak or Maryland crabcake since we arrived. You don't have to be vegetarian to use these recipes. You don't even have to know a vegetarian to use these recipes. Pick and choose, or laugh at me, whatever. "Man, I love that cranberry sauce they bring; it tastes more like cranberries than can-shaped sauce." "Hey! Get Eleanor away from the fireplace!" "I need more gravy on my potatoes."
