Infertility, Acupuncture
And Herbal Medicine
The Miracle She was overjoyed. And she was shocked. Donna had been trying to conceive for years. She and her husband had been through the cycles of emotional turmoil that often accompany a long-term effort to conceive starting with optimism, then frustration, anxiety and ultimately the slide into depression. Finally, they gave up hope that they would become pregnant. They decided to adopt a child. That's when what the "miracle" occurred. "I conceived!"
Donna says. Home Infertility Article Endometriosis Doctor Recommendations ... Links
It's a story that has been repeated many times. A couple relaxes after the overwhelming cascade of emotions they've experienced while trying to create a child. And, finally, their dreams of conception come true. Stress has been shown in many instances to decrease your chances of conception, whether you are a woman or a man. That's why it is so important that you incorporate a stress reduction program into your day-to-day life when you are trying to have a child. The success rates for fertility procedures such as I.V.F. and G.I.F.T. increase when you use stress reduction techniques. And that's why acupuncture, an ancient procedure that helps to reduce stress, and Chinese herbal medicine, can help you. At the New York Center for Acupuncture and Complementary Medicine, we are devoted to helping you achieve your goal of conceiving a child.

The Yale Sperm Physiology Laboratory, established in 1983, is a leading Andrology laboratory, with national and international reputations for the excellence of both its clinical and its innovative research programs. We specialize in clinical evaluation and treatment of couples with male factor infertility, and in research aimed at developing new approaches for such evaluation and treatment. Our laboratory performs the most sophisticated computer assisted semen analyses, anti-sperm antibody testing, and sperm morphometry/morphology evaluations. In addition, it offers the sperm migration test, which provides an assessment of the progression efficiency of sperm available for fertilization, and tests the maintenance of sperm motility. Another feature, a result of award winning research, provides a measure of sperm fertility based on the measurement of a sperm protein which is present only in fertile sperm. This test is useful in the diagnosis of unexplained male infertility, a condition in which fertility is diminished despite normal sperm concentrations and motilities.

Welcome to our Center of Reproductive Medicine web site which is part of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Yale University School of Medicine. The excellence of Yale OB/Gyn is deep rooted, the history of our faculty is very rich in tradition and scientific breakthroughs.
In the 1950's our department created the first Newborn Special Care Unit in the world. Ever since we have been on the cutting edge of perinatal care by developing intrauterine corrective surgery for unborn babies and by inventing the key method of electronic fetal monitoring during childbirth. This is now used in every hospital around the world. With respect to reproductive endocrinology, our section had the first IVF Program and had the first IVF pregnancy in the Northeast.
Our staff physician's achievements are recognized world wide for both their academic and clinical activities. They are also recognized by various professional societies. One example is: in year 2000 at the annual meeting of the most prestigious society of our field, the Society for Gynecologic Investigation approximately 1000 presentations were accepted, and a Presidential Prize was awarded to the 25 best. Our Section of Reproductive Medicine has received four of these awards. You, as a patient, may not immediately benefit from our scientific breakthroughs, but the awareness and worldwide leadership of our faculty assures that you will receive the best and most forward looking care humanly possible.

Infertility Causes If there is a disturbance in any of these factors, infertility may result.
Infertility in Men
  • One of the causes is being unable to producing good quality semen. The semen may have:
    • Low sperm count
    • Abnormal sperms
    • Poor motility
    This may be due to:
    • Undescended testes
    • Obesity
    • Poor diet
    • Sedentary or stressful life
    • Over tight underwear
    • Prolonged abstinence from intercourse
  • Infertility may be due to problems pertaining to the sexual act:
    • Impotence
    • Retrograde ejaculation
  • It may be due to problems of coital frequency:
    • Frequent intercourse (several times a day) due to the misconception that it will help conception. This lowers sperm count. This impact is greater on men with marginal fertility. Normal counts generally are not lowered into the infertile range by daily ejaculation.
  • Errors in sexual techniques may result in infertility:
    • Intravaginal use of lubricants due to weak spermicidal nature.
    • Frequent douching makes the vaginal environment hostile to sperm.

http://www.infertilityhelp.org/
Welcome to Infertilityhelp.org - the website of Davidson Manual Medicine Research The primary purpose of this site is to communicate the fact that there are safe, inexpensive and effective methods for improving human fertility, using the manual Medicine techniques used by Chiropractors, Massage Therapists, Medical Specialists, Osteopaths, Physiologists, Physiotherapists and Reflexologists. The site also exists as a resource for interested professionals and scientists, whose contributions and shared findings are welcome, and will be acknowledged. The author practiced as a chiropractor in the UK from 1977 -2001, and even before qualifying became interested in the phenomenon of patients reporting other health improvements following musculo-skeletal treatments. He studied advanced techniques which linked slight changes in muscle tone to changes in organ function, and used these in his practice from the outset. Within a few months of graduation, he treated a couple with back pain and secondary infertility, and both conditions cleared up.Over the next 23 years he treated a further 6 cases of infertility in this way, with only one failure. Because he was unaware of any relevant scientific research or controlled clinical trials related to his experiences, he was unable ethically to publicise this approach to infertility, due to insufficient evidence. All this changed in 2000, when he obtained a copy of an article in the German journal
