INTERNET SAFETY ALERT! The Kansas Coalition Against Sexual and Domestic Violence (KCSDV) is a network of programs reaching across the state, helping us unify on a state level and to end battering and sexual assault wherever it occurs. Our primary focus is on providing support and safety to the victims of these crimes through the direct services of our member programs. The major work of the Coalition is to support this network of services by increasing public awareness through education and advocacy, exploring new options for services and funding, and by working for social change.
  • To build coalition among service providers to promote communication, support, and networking to ensure comprehensive services.
  • To develop research and data collection systems which document the incidences of sexual and domestic violence and the availability of services.
  • To establish and expand services for victims of sexual and domestic violence in Kansas, with primary focus on women and children.
  • To conduct statewide educational efforts designed to inform the public, specific groups, and agencies about the nature of sexual and domestic violence and its effect on individuals, families and society.
  • To provide statewide advocacy for public policy changes which affect victims of sexual and domestic violence.

September 11 Scholarship Fund Gov. Graves joins with Kansas business community to announce scholarship fund for children of September 11 victims First gift: $1 million from Kansas' Koch Industries TOPEKA, KS (September 19, 2001)—Gov. Bill Graves today joined forces with Kansas business and industry to create an educational assistance fund for children and families of victims of the September 11 terrorist attack. To launch the fund, Graves said that Koch Industries, through its chairman and CEO, Charles Koch, has contributed $1 million. “As the relief effort continues in New York, Washington, and Pennsylvania we are gratified by the spirit and the generosity of the American people and the outstanding work of the thousands of volunteers and relief agencies involved," Graves said. "But beyond the immediate relief, we must not forget those family members whose lives were devastated by these events. Among those are many children whose parents were lost and who now may need a helping hand." “This extraordinary commitment from Koch Industries and its employees from around the world speaks eloquently to the generosity of Kansans. It is our hope that other Kansas companies and individuals will follow their lead and help ensure future educational opportunity for the victims’ surviving children and family members,” Graves said.

US State Government Aid The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is used to apply for most state loan, grant and scholarship programs, in addition to the federal loans and grants. When you submit the FAFSA to the US Department of Education, they forward the information on the form to the state student assistance agency. Each state has a different FAFSA submission deadline. If you submit your FAFSA by March 1, you will be in time for all state deadlines, other than Michigan. If you miss the deadline, you will be ineligible to receive state aid for the entire academic year. Procedures for applying for state prepaid tuition programs and the national guard differ from state to state. The amount of information provided on the state web sites varies from state to states. Some states provide comprehensive information about residency requirements, loan, grant, scholarship and prepaid tuition programs and other state aid programs. Others provide minimal information. We recommend visiting the sites for both your state of residence and for the states of the colleges to which you are applying. A B C D ...

From the Statehouse to the Classroom:
    Governing America's Schools
Viewpoints (formerly the School Development Outreach Project) is a multimedia package on education governance designed to provide you with various perspectives, or viewpoints, from national, state, and local voices in education. In this package, you will notice two other changes. In the past, we have focused on emerging hot topics in education policy. In this edition of Viewpoints , we are examining a broader issuethe role of governance in education. Also, for the first time we are making Viewpoints available in CD format. This new feature allows you to easily revisit interview segments of interest. The accompanying booklet provides a general overview of this complex issue. We believe this multimedia package will serve as a valuable resource for you and your work.
