The WonderWise Parent is an informative, ad banner-free site on parenting and parent-child relationships. The WonderWise Parent is designed for parents, grandparents, foster parents, stepparents, caregivers, teachers, and parent educators. It was created and is maintained by Dr. Charles A. Becoming WonderWise means being open to learning about the humanity of childrenwhat they bring into the world and how they grow. It means becoming more trusting of one's intuition as a parent and accepting the uncertainty and magic in all relationships. Parents are treated here as intelligent and caring human beings capable of making their own decisions about child rearing.

About Art Awareness
"Gaining Insight Into Children By Understanding What They Create"
Art Awareness
examines the development of children's art from the scribbling of a toddler to the more elaborate work of the gradeschooler. Children's drawing progresses developmentally. The expressive gestures of the toddler, from the moment they can be recorded by crayon or pencil, gradually evolve into a set of consistent symbols or basic patterns. This development occurs in the context of play; it is not taught. This art is much like a window into the child's world. It plays an important role in children's overall mental development. The resource also examines the role of parents and other caregivers in nurturing creative expression in drawing. We hope to create an online version of the program that will be found on the

KANSAS WORKS
MISSION
KANSAS WORKS - work program services exist to empower individuals and families to become more self-sufficient through employment; and to develop opportunities for present and future generations to escape dependence on public assistance.
FOUNDATION
  • Work programs support and reward work. Welfare recipients' greatest needs are re-connection to the job market and the opportunity to gain skills on the job. Program staff, recipients and applicants view cash assistance and Food Stamps as temporary programs which assist in transitioning to employment rather than as programs of continued economic assistance. Resources are maximized through the coordination of existing programs at all levels including government, community and business organizations. Participants have the ability and responsibility to utilize the program to improve their employability. Government support should not be provided to those unwilling to participate. The program targets families in economic crisis with supportive services and active help towards gaining (or regaining) strength. An emphasis on individual achievement through work program services sends a message to participants, especially young people, about the rewards of self-reliance and the direct connection between self-responsibility and their own economic success.
