How to Conduct Yourself in Court
A handful of tips to help you make a good impression on the judge. It's not hard to learn how to conduct yourself in court. This is especially true if your trial is before a judge without a jury, because most judges make an effort to simplify jargon and procedure. And there are several practical steps you can take to learn the ropes: Remember a few simple rules.
  • Call the judge "your honor," not "Judge Smith." Don't interrupt your opponent or the judge you'll get your turn. Don't get up and repeat all that you said before. When you have an important point to make in a jury trial, it's okay to tell them three times. If you are in a trial before a judge alone, two times is enough. Carefully read a self-help book such as Represent Yourself in Court Prepare a Trial Notebook which outlines each major aspect of your trial and what you need to do and say at each point. For example, based on taking the other side's deposition or asking written questions (interrogatories), you probably have a pretty good idea what she will say when she testifies. Clearly, it's a good idea to use your Trial Notebook to prepare a carefully crafted outline of what you plan to ask her in court. Similarly, because you will know before trial who else will testify for the other side, your Trial Notebook should contain a well-organized list of points you want to cover when you have a chance to question (cross-examine) them.

However they can refer people to an appropriate legal advisory, mediation or support and advocacy service where appropriate. By John A. Patti, Esquire
An attorney who practices matrimonial law on a daily basis is well versed on issues of child support, alimony, equitable distribution, etc. This is what we, in the Matrimonial Bar, do every day. In fact, many in the Matrimonial Bar also participate in additional seminars and are members of social groups committed to excellence in the field of matrimonial law. A pro se litigant on the other hand must have the ability to detach him or herself personally from the stress that he or she may be going through with the dissolution of the marriage and then be expected to proceed at the same level of an attorney at a particular hearing. The cards are, no doubt, stacked in favor of the person being represented by an attorney.
In conclusion, I leave you with a saying that is uttered in the Court House across this State (and I am sure many other states as well) and that is: "A person who represents himself has a fool for a client." Be guided, accordingly.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR John A. Patti possess the academic credentials, strong community ties, and is passionately committed to the pursuit of excellence, communication and the demonstration of the strictest personal and professional ethics as well as the utmost concern for his clients.

    (1) Introduction
Unsolicited bulk e-mail, commonly called "spam", has lately become an extraordinary nuisance. Spam as such is not illegal (yet). The contents of some actual spam messages, however, may violate a state or federal law. Other spam messages may violate the spammer's contract with his or her Internet Service Provider, or else cause enough harm to a third party to warrant a civil lawsuit. No legal action will be taken against a spammer, however, unless someone reports the problem. The contact information that I provide here is incomplete, and includes only the United States. This article only contains information for those wishing to complain about spam; those seeking deeper explanations of the problem, or who are curious about other topics, will find URLs for several encyclopedic Web sites toward the end of this article. Most of the information in this article, particularly on technical topics, has previously been described in other forms by these existing sites.

Once you know what the law says, you can act accordingly. That's why LawForLess gives you the law, and then enables you to decide what to do. For example, LawForLess seeks to empower the individual to:

Pre-Paid Legal Services faces numerous lawsuits
from its own members and associates. The basis of these
lawsuits, revolve around misleading sales and recruiting
    tactics.
Nearly 50% of its sold memberships are cancelled within
their first year, leaving recruited associates who were
quoted a 70% (or higher) retention rate, with the obligation to pay back the "unearned" portion of his or her advanced commission check. Pre-Paid Legal also faces several lawsuits from its own members, many who claim that the service doesn't do what they were told it would. Most of the reasons the average person would have to go to court for seem only to be covered in PPL's "Title V" which gives the member a 25% discount from the provider attorney's rate. There is nothing stopping the attorney from simply raising his/her hours. Every year half of its members cancel their plans and are replaced by a new group of hopeful investors. For example

How do you know if you have a legal problem? How do you know if you need legal assistance? When to see a lawyer . Some things may be handled best by a lawyer. You should always talk with a lawyer as soon as possible if you are sued, before you admit or deny guilt for a crime, before you make a statement to the police, or if you have been in a serious accident which injured someone or damaged property. You should also consult a lawyer early if you are considering a lawsuit, you are considering divorce or adoption, someone in your family dies, you want a Will or need estate planning, you are considering bankruptcy, you have tax problems, you are buying or selling a home, or you are organizing or dissolving a business. Representing yourself . You have the right to represent yourself in a civil or criminal case. You should do so, however, only if you completely understand the legal issues and the procedures involved. You should also understand that you may be at a disadvantage if you get too emotionally caught up in the case, and you should represent yourself only if you are willing to accept that risk and others.
