The UK's Number One
Geography Portal!! G.C.S.E. Topic: Countries

There are hundreds of country links and they are variable in quality. Some are good for Geography, others also provide political, historical, sociological data and information. Many of the embassy links cater for travellers only, but a few provide a much wider range of useful information. Some have special education links - the Brazilian Embassy is one of the best!
An excellent general site to start with is the CIA Factbook which has lots of up-to-date information on every country - but beware of printing it all out without checking how many pages there are - some countries have a lot of information!
You can scroll down the page or jump to a particular continent that you are interested in using the headings below:

Viewing himself as a revolutionary leader, he used oil funds during the 1970s and 1980s to promote his ideology outside Libya, even supporting subversives and terrorists abroad to hasten the end of Marxism and capitalism. Libyan military adventures failed, e.g., the prolonged foray of Libyan troops into the Aozou Strip in northern Chad was finally repulsed in 1987.
