The Hampshire College Archives What are the Archives? The Hampshire College archives comprise a collection of materials by and about Hampshire College people, programs and offices. These records are produced in the course of day to day operations, and transferred to the archives when no longer in daily use by the originating office. This material forms a documentary record of the history and functioning of the college. What kinds of materials are available in the archives? Some of the many kinds of material are Hampshire College publications of all kinds, including catalogs and course guides, newsletters, and bulletins, student-produced newspapers and magazines, college governance committee minutes and reports, planning material from the early years of the college, photographs, transcripts of interviews and speeches, and correspondence files from college offices (although access to many of these correspondence files requires permission from the office of origin). Is there any material of the history of Hampshire College available outside of the archives?

    MAGAZINE LIBRARY
    The Magazine Library is located in the lobby of the Art Department Office area. Included are many graphic and interactive design publications, photography magazines, and gallery and museum publications. Art Education magazines and publications are also available. Studio art publications are also available representing a wide variety of media and techniques.
    Current copies, as well as many back issues, of art-related magazines are available for check-out by students, faculty, and staff. To check out a magazine, fill out the library card located in a pocket inside the front or back cover of the magazine and return the card to the Art Office. Back issues are available by lifting the shelf where the magazine is located. Some older back issues of magazines are kept in the Student Lounge.
    A limited number of art history texts, art and graphic design books are also available for check-out.
