Welcome to AstroWeb - a collection of pointers to astronomy-related information available on the Internet. The database is maintained by the AstroWeb Consortium , a collaboration involving 9 individuals at 7 institutions. In addition to classified lists of resource records, the Consortium also provides a utility to search the AstroWeb database: (WAIS search help) Most of the URLs in the database are tested three times a day to verify aliveness (see "AstroWeb Dead URLs" and "AstroWeb Unreliable URLs" ). The Consortium will be pleased to accept contributions of new resource records. You can use HTML forms to (1) submit an addition or change to the Astroweb database review pending submissions review Astroweb records changed in the past month or (4) send EMail to the Consortium . This NRAO version of AstroWeb is recomputed at about 10:05 UTC each day, if the master database has been changed. Neither the individuals involved in the AstroWeb Consortium, nor their affiliated institutions, accept any responsibility for the contents or availability of information located at other Internet sites. 46. Advanced Astronomy Mailing List
For catalogs of other astronomy mailing lists see Dave Kodama's Astronomy listsindex. Astronomy and astrophysics lists from the WWW Virtual Library.
    http://astrophotographer.com/adv_astro.html
About the Advanced Astronomy List The Advanced Astronomy List (AAL) is a small, private mailing list intended to facilitate discussion of advanced topics in the practice of astrophotography (film and CCD), visual astronomy, and telescope making. Though there are other mailing lists and newsgroups in which those topics are discussed, AAL differs in several respects:
    • Unlike special-purpose lists that deal only with one aspect of astronomy or one manufacturer's product, AAL fosters discussion of all major aspects of astronomy. This allows the cross-pollination of ideas that promotes advances and innovations, and it also recognizes that most practitioners do not limit themselves to just one thing, but have a variety of interests.
    • Unlike open lists and newsgroups that often turn into argumentative free-for-alls, AAL fosters a collegial atmosphere. AAL does not tolerate abusive, condescending, or inflammatory behavior. Those who practice such behavior will be excluded or promptly expelled from the list.
    • Unlike open lists and newsgroups that come to be dominated over time by beginners and repetitive beginner's questions, AAL's membership is by invitation only and limited to experienced practitioners, thereby providing an uncluttered environment for advanced topics and discussions.

    Astronomy/Astrophysics Resources
Most of the items listed under physics are relevant to astronomy and astrophysics. The items listed here are focus on astronomy and astrophysics.
    Databases
The databases listed under Physics are also useful to astronomy and astrophysics. Those listed below are very specific to astronomy and astrophysics. Astrophysics Data System: Astronomy Abstract Service
The primary source of abstracts is NASA's STI, who provided abstracts from 1975 through about the middle of 1995. Since then, the majority of the abstracts are directly from the journal editors.
    Astronomy and Astrophysics Abstracts. 1969-1998
    Reference Collection 520.5 A862
Astronomy and Astrophysics Abstracts (AAA) aims to present a comprehensive documentation of the literature concerning all aspects of astronomy, astrophysics, and their neighbouring fields. It is devoted to the recording, summarizing, and indexing of the relevant publications throughout the world. Since 1988, most of the information given in AAA is available on-line in the data base INSPEC . An on-line version of AAA in the 'reference format', i.e. without the summaries of the papers, is available in the data base

This document is intended for faculty/staff list administrators only. For general information about Majordomo and how to access it as a user, see the publication Using the Majordomo Mailing List Server
    Introduction
Majordomo is a Unix-based mailing list program, similar to a "Listserv." This document was written for list administrators — people who wish to create and possibly control mailing lists. The program was originally written as an email text-based Unix application. However a user-friendly graphical World Wide Web interface was created to help make list administration easier. There are three kinds of lists that are supported:
    • CSUN class lists (for students in a particular class, or for several sections of the same course). These list names end with "-C", as in "ENGL150-C". Departmental lists (for CSUN departments). These list names end with "-L", as in "FACSEN-L".
