Virginia
is one of the Southeastern United States, on the Atlantic coast. Its entire Western border is in the Appalachian mountians, which run from Southwest to Northeast. Approaching from the ocean, one would enter the great port city of Norfolk , first passing its even more populous suburb, Virginia Beach. Neighboring cities include Newport News, Hampton, Portsmouth and Chesapeake . This area is generally called Hampton Roads. It is also known as the Tidewater, together with everything east of Washington and Richmond.
(Bear in mind that lawyers in Virginia typically practice in several counties and cities.)
Two hours West of Norfolk is Richmond , the capital. Two hours Northwest of Richmond is Charlottesville , just east of the Blue Ridge Mountains . Thomas Jefferson lived near there. Beyond these mountains lies the great Shennandoah Valley , and then the Allegheny mountains and desolateWest Virginia, a completely separate State which is not affiliated in any way with Virginia.

Linguistic Geography of Pennsylvania
The above map is historically skewed, in that boundaries follow the most modern studies when possible, but where current information is not available the boundaries must often reflect the 1939 LAMSAS data. At certain points the modern and older studies clearly conflict: Schuylkill County with its consistent monophthongization would have been better classified with the Lehigh Valley and Reading in 1939; today, its acceptance of the low back merger shows that it clearly belongs to the Anthracite region.

91. Geography

Armenia
Home History Politics Religion ... The Tragic Earthquake of 1988     Armenia is situated in southwestern Asia. The country is bordered by Georgia and Azerbaijan to the north and east, Iran and Nakhichevan to the south, and Turkey to the west. The highest point in Armenia is Mt. Aragats (13,418 feet), the largest body of water is Lake Sevan and the largest river is Araks. At its greatest extent 2,000 years ago, the area occupied by the Armenian people was over 100,000 square miles. Today, Armenian territory covers only about 11,506 square miles, just slightly larger than the state of Maryland. Although the country's total land area once equaled that of England and Wales put together, Armenia has never supported a population of more than 5-6 million. Mt. Ararat is situated in Turkey. However, Armenians once inhabited and ruled Mt. Ararat, where the Biblical Noah's Ark first landed escaping the Great Flood. It is 16,945 feet high. The permanent snow line begins at the level of 14,000 feet. Mt. Ararat consists of volcanic rocks. Armenia's largest body of water is one of the highest lakes in the world. Lake Sevan unveils itself with constantly changing colors - contrasting itself to the sky. Sevan is a lake of mysteries, located at an altitude of 6,340 feet above sea level. Its waters are sweet. Twenty eight short mountain streams merge into Sevan, But only one - Hrazdan River - flows out.

Worcester County Map

Situated conveniently in the Mid-Atlantic region, Worcester County
has the cost advantages of a southeastern community with the market access of a northeastern location; it is readily accessible by road, air or train to the burgeoning Philadelphia-Norfolk corridor. More than 30% of the nation's population and 36% of its manufacturing establishments can be reached overnight by truck or train. Scheduled air passenger and freight service is available from the Salisbury-Ocean City Regional Airport, a one-half hour drive from all points in the county. The county provides the best of urban and rural living close enough to the cultural riches of Norfolk, Baltimore, Philadelphia and Washington, DC, yet far enough away to avoid traffic congestion, dangerous crime and high-cost housing. From the hustle and bustle of a major resort to the quaint, historic townsfrom the majestic forests to the scenic river, the county offers something for everyone. Figures are from Community Profile for Worcester County, MD 1996-97
