Many of these programs are in private school settings, although some public alternative schools are developing similar programs. Some examples: The Eagle Rock School and Professional Development Center in Colorado was founded by the Honda Corporation in 1993 as a year-round, tuition-free, residential high for up to ninety-six 15- to 18-year-old students from diverse backgrounds across America who have not been successful in conventional school settings. Students are nominated through a participating school district or community organization and must have strong support from an adult sponsor. Environmentalism and outdoor education are combined with active learning and community service in a unique residential setting. Eagle Rock's full-time teaching internship program involves participants in student activities and campus life as well as classroom teaching and administration.

Contributors to the Massachusetts Tech Corps Inc., for 1998 include: Computerworld, Inc.
The Massachusetts Tech Corps recruits professionals from technology related industries to share their knowledge, skills, time, and enthusiasm with public schools (K-12) throughout the Commonwealth. From software pioneers to hardware visionaries, network managers to programmers, engineers to marketing executives, Massachusetts has the greatest pool of technology talent in the world.
The same talent that fuels Massachusetts global leadership in information technology is now being used to benefit hundreds of Bay State school children. Since its launch as a pilot project in January 1995, the Massachusetts Tech Corps has expanded from 12 school districts to 40 school districts. More than 500 professionals have responded to the call for volunteers - and their number keeps growing.
Bridging the Technology Gap Many Massachusetts schools are eager to integrate computer technology into the classroom, but are hampered by lack of funding and/or technological experience. The Massachusetts Tech Corps provides additional resources to help schools:
