Library
The AIB library has about 10,000 books, 450 videos, and subscribes to 95 periodicals. The library also has a collection of 45,000 slides. The collection consists of materials in Fine Arts, Photography, Illustration and Graphic Design. There is a circulating Picture File of 10,000+ photo images, and a Vertical File of current exhibition catalogs and pamphlets on art and artists. The AIB library belongs to Fenway Library Consortium, consisting of 15 libraries to which AIB students have borrowing privileges. Fenway Library Online enables AIB patrons to get books through interlibrary loan. AIB library also provides access to a growing collection of electronic full text databases. AIB students have access to the Eleanor DeWolfe Ludcke Library at Lesley University's Cambridge campus as well. This library supports the academic programs of the university through a collection of books, journals, multimedia, and electronic resources. All of these resources are available to AIB students on and off the AIB campus. The Kresge Center for Teaching Resources, one of the best collections of its kind in the Northeast, is located on the second floor of the Ludcke Library. The Kresge Center houses juvenile books, teaching aids, instructional kits, recordings, videotapes, and other materials designed for us by students in their professional placements.

NEW INTERNET RESOURCE GUIDE FOR STUDENTS AND TEACHERS! ** note: This page has been translated from the original (submitted) resource document Some links may have been changed or moved.
This site is based on research conducted by Sally Moses.
This project focused on research of the resources available on the Internet. The end product was an Internet resource guide for use in a K12 media center by students, teachers, and media specialists. By targeting a varied audience, the researcher was able to discover the resources that were availablefor all the people that a media specialist may serve. In addition, the researcher focused on reference and bibliographic sources for students because those resources would benefit the greatest number of students. For media specialists and teachers, she (Sally Moses) chose resources that would support their professions.

CDC awards funds to universities for research on how to prevent disease and injuries
As part of its new strategy to strengthen and expand the nation's public health research programs at universities, CDC announced today grants of $12.5 million to fund 50 research projects at academic health centers, research centers and university-affiliated programs across the country. The funding is part of CDC's Prevention Research Initiative, an effort to link the talents and skills of university-based scientists with the resources of health departments, community-based programs, and national organizations. "The awards ensure that public health research activities address problems affecting the nation's communities," says Dr. Jeffrey P. Koplan, director of the CDC. "The grants will help CDC and its partners conduct research that can directly improve community health and reduce the need for medical care." The grants cover a range of subjects, including prevention of sexually transmitted diseases, asthma, genetics and home, workplace and recreational injuries. (See complete list attached.) Activities include centers of excellence in prevention research, research projects to inform public policy, and research investigator training and development. The average grant is approximately $250,000. Most projects are funded for three years.
