May Day Surprise your neighbor with a special, home made May day basket and make many other May Day crafts. May Day (May 1st) is celebrated in many places around the world. The traditions and stories surrounding May Day vary from place to place. There is, however, one thing that is similar in most celebrations - the use of Flowers! One of the most popularly known May Day traditions is to hang a basket full of spring flowers and/or other small gifts on a neighbor's doorknob. The trick is you don't want the neighbor to see you! If you get caught, you are supposed to get a kiss. Make a May Day Cone Basket
or a Mini May Day Basket

A popular activity on May Day is to decorate a pole with brightly colored ribbon or paper streamers. Some also add flowers and balloons. The pole is usually carried in a parade and then placed in the ground at a designated area. People then dance around the May pole, holding the ends of the streamers or ribbon in their hands.

MAY DAY ACTIVITIES
I received quite a few requests for children's May Day crafts. I must admit I had trouble getting motivated to make flowery, spring-like crafts when it's only been a week since the snow has melted. But here's my best attempt! Watch the Teletubby show with the MAGIC CLOUD, MAGIC CLOUD SPREAD MAGIC FLOWERS ALL AROUND.... let them pretend to be the magic cloud and spread "magic" tissue paper flowers all around. This is great fun for even the youngest kids.

Crafts Ideas for may day
be creative in celebrating the day
The celebration of May Day is a great time. The time to welcome Summer, and celebrate new beginnings. And what else than flowers can be used to greet a newcomer. Thus celebrating May Day gets its best with flowers. Flowers of bright colors that adorn the season of spring.
Back To MayDay
Send May day Greetings Refer This Page To Someone
And to get those flowers all you need is a basket. The tradition of May Day Baskets is a fun way to let your friends and loved ones know that you think of them.
So get ready to craft a special basket. Fill it with a bunch of summer flowers and leave it on a friend's front door knob. The door bell is rung, and you run and hide so they won't know who has left the greeting.
Again baskets are not the last word. You can also surprise your folks by hanging a greenery chain, a green posy, garland or, even a flower rope. In fact, you can be liberal in catching the May Day mood with any creative idea with a touch of the flora.
So, be creative, and, celebrate May Day with the " floral wish for your dearest folks".

    *** Kool-Aid Enhanced Playdough ***
This beautifully-colored, scented, (but non -appetizing), playdough recipe idea comes to us courtesy of Kim Lindemann, a visitor to this webpage. After making a batch, Mr. Dwight Young reports that his sixth graders "...like it so much that they tell each other to behave and not fling it about the classroom because they don't want it taken away before their turn to use it comes up!"
2 cups flour 4 teaspoons cream of tartar 1 cup salt 1 1/2 cups boiling water 3 - 4 Tablespoons vegetable oil Kool Aid Add one package of Kool Aid mix, oil and food coloring to boiling water. Combine remaining ingredients, and mix well. As you knead it, the dough will get smoother. Store in airtight container. Delightfully scented, very pliable and easy to roll or sculpt.
