Advertising Free Credit Report Free Psychics Advertisement Venus - Aphrodite in Astrology Wars, Conflicts, and High Prices First Page Venus Love, Beauty, and Pleasure As marvelous and lovely as Venus is, don’t let her kid you. Unlike the Greeks, the ancient Mayans of South America identified this wandering star as a deity of war. This was likely because the Mayan astronomers found this wandering star to be so often associated with the beginnings of wars and conflicts. Heck! Despite what one might think, even for the Greeks it was no surprise that Aphrodite (Venus) enjoyed stirring things up. In her form as the ruler of Taurus, Venus is highly involved what she considers to be valuable. Most often this includes being interested in money, possessions, and/or other commodities that are considered to be valuable. How many wars have been fought over money and/or the control of natural resources? High Prices Back to those high prices that I mentioned earlier… I’m reminded of the early Christian church desert monks who chose to cut themselves off (often literally) from Venus and all of her fleshly carnal desires of the world. The high price [other than the obvious one involved in physical castration] that these monks paid was that Venus then caught them up in a proverbial “Catch 22.” The further out into the desert that these holy men moved and the harder that they worked at exorcising and purifying themselves of any, and all, of their worldly and lustful desires for women – all the more that these holy men were then plagued and tempted with disgusting, impure, and polluted thoughts that they then attributed to attacks of the evil one.

Regional Mexican Food
Featured Cookbooks: More Cookbooks "Real Mexican" food can easily stir a debate. Exactly what is Mexican? Many would argue that only foods made historically in Mexico (made for at least the last 100 years) can qualify. However, the blending of cultures has brought many variations to authentic Mexican food. Historic Mexican The Mayans used to populate Southeast Mexico subsisting on wild game, fish, squash, beans and corn. Corn was of such importance that a corn god had to be worshipped for a good harvest. Along the coasts, tropical fruits played a more important role in food preparation as well - often showing up in seafood recipes. Mayan food is the basis of what is now considered "Authentic Mexican." Sample dishes include tamales barbacoa ceviche and atole.

Which tropical fruit looks similar to a kiwi and has a taste described as a pear soaked in maple syrup? The sapodilla - otherwise known as the naseberry. This fruit is native to the tropical coasts of Mexico and is known to have grown at least as far back as the Mayans who chewed the sap as chewing gum. Brazil still grows sapodillas for the commercial production of gum. The sap of the sapodilla as called chicle - hence the gum known as Chicklets. Sapodilla is most often eaten straight and chilled. It also makes a great addition to a salad with a fruit vinaigrette dressing or a fruit salad. Some squish sapodilla into homemade ice cream or sherbet. Smoothies can also benefit from the addition of this sweet fruit. Some culture will also serve it stewed of fried with ginger. The most common description of sapodilla flavor is a pear soaked in ice cream. Some believe the taste is closer to brown sugar or molasses.

Dateline: 07/01/97 A close friend accused me of living in a Victorian fantasy. The charge is ridiculouseven if she'd picked the right historical period. I don't want to live in the past, but sometimes I wonder if we of the twentieth century don't think too highly of our modern technology. Sometimes I still use a few of those primitive counting digits known as fingers. Rather than glancing sideways to make sure no one sees, I should take pride in the illustrious heritage of such a technique. It accounts for why most number systems use base 10. Some areas (perhaps where barefeet was the norm), developed base twenty systems. The Babylonians, however, used a hexasegimal (base 60) system that was so functional that today, 4000 years later, we still use it every day whenever we tell time or refer to degrees of a circle.

Magick symbols
The pentagram is one of the most potent, powerful, and persistent symbols in human history. It was important to almost every ancient culture, from the Mayans of Latin America, in India, China, and Egypt. It has been found scratched on the walls of Neolithic caves, or in Babylonian drawings, where it marks the pattern the planet Venus makes on its travels. Scriptures, especially Hebrew, are abundant with hidden references to them. According to Pythagoras, the Greek mathematician and philosopher, five is the number of man, because of the fivefold division of the body, and the ancient Greek div of the soul- the five points each representing one of the five elements that make up man: fire, water, air, and earth, and psyche.

Adventure: The Next Generation Turning coach potatos into creative cruisers Let's face it, our kids and our society are engulfed in an ever growing technological world of cyberspace and virtual education . And while all these hi-tech advances have brought the very world to our doorstep and broadened our perspectives and knowledge, it's not the same as experiencing it first hand.
Today's younger generation is drifting further and further away from human/nature interaction and into the enticing and attractive world of virtual reality. Learning about other cultures through the internet is great, but until you have been at a fireside dance ceremony at Taos Pueblo or fished with the Mayans in the blue waters of the Caribbean - or experienced some other environment outside of the ordinary - you will not truly understand how real adventure can impact your life and broaden your perspectives.

Is Chocolate healthier than green tea? "Chocolate contains up to four times the anti-oxidants found in tea." Sound too good to be true? In fact, that was the conclusion of a recent study by Holland's National Institute of Public Health and Environment. Researchers found that chocolate - specifically dark chocolate - contains 53.5 mg of catechins per 100 grams. (Catechins are the powerful anti-oxidants that help prevent against cancer and heart disease). By contrast, 100 ml of black tea contains a mere 13.9 mg of catechins. Eating chocolate to stay healthy? Well, why not? Scientists have established that there are important health benefits to be gained from drinking red wine, so why not chocolate as well? But I wouldn't trade my morning cup of tea for a box of truffles just yet. For one thing, as Karen Allen points out in a report for the BBC, the amount of cocoa powder in chocolates may be quite small. Chocolates often contain other ingredients, such as saturated fats, that more than outweigh the health benefits to be gained from cocoa's cancer-fighting chemicals. More importantly, the Dutch researchers were not comparing chocolate to green tea, which is rich in catechins. Furthermore, evidence is mounting that scientists have only begun to discover the numerous health benefits associated with drinking green tea. Still, a cup of green tea with a chocolate biscuit or a piece of dark chocolate sounds like a great way to begin the day!
