Conference/Events Technology in the Knowledge Economy: Research Challenges and Tools
ACCRA 40th Annual Meeting June 7-10, 2000
Minneapolis, Minnesota
Minneapolis Marriott
In the New Economy , successful companies convert information into knowledge that can be applied to their core product or service. Likewise, successful community and economic researchers must:
  • Improve their ability to find or generate credible, timely information that can be organized, interpreted, and shared with their clients as value-added knowledge.
  • Apply a variety of increasingly sophisticated tools to manage, filter, and interpret a continuous stream of information.
ACCRA’s 40th Annual Meeting will be this year’s single most important opportunity for applied community and economic development researchers to convene to explore innovative approaches and methods for analyzing local or regional economies. From the training and information sharing offered at this meeting, economic development analysts and researchers can become more valuable contributors to their community or state’s economic policy discussions. With these new ideas and new tools, researchers and analysts can interpret the vast quantities of information about their state or community to provide new insights into their community’s past, present, and future.

Memory for past events in children making the transition from infancy to early childhood is one of our major research interests. My ultimate goal is to identify the cognitive contributions to the phenomenon of infantile amnesia —paucity among adults of verbally accessible memories of the first years of life. We are also conducting research on conceptual development. W. Andrew Collins
