The Mission The mission of the Argosy University/Twin Cities library is to provide access to the materials and library services which students need to excel in all of the programs at our campus. Our student clientele numbers about 1200 students. As an extension of our mission we support the research needs of 80 faculty members. Staff
The library staff consists of the Director of Library Services, a Librarian, an Assistant Librarian, a Library Assistant, and several student workers. Collection
The library's collection focuses on the areas of allied health fields, veterinary topics, and clinical psychology, as well as including the components of general education, such as ethics, history, composition, sociology and speech. About 500 new titles are added each year. The monograph collection currently includes 6485 titles in 7232 volumes. Our journals consist of 144 titles with active subscriptions and 150 titles not currently subscribed to, but with back year holdings. We have 365 videotapes and a dozen CD-ROM titles. One special strength is our collection of 112 different psychological tests and test kits. In addition to the materials physically located in the library, students have access to several online journal indices, such as Expanded Academic Index and Health Index, which include full text of articles from approximately 900 journals. Other full-text sources include Electric Library and ProQuest Public Affairs II. Students in the psychology programs have access to PsycINFO, the most comprehensive index for that field. All of these online resources are available from students homes through the Internet, as well as being available within the library.

Tornado Decimates Minnesota Libraries Staff 4/13/1998
News > This Week The St. Peter Library, which is the largest branch of the Minnesota Valley Regional Library, was 11 years old and had been furnished very elaborately. "Books, videos, CDs, furniture, framed prints, magazines, shredded newspapers, computer terminals and monitors, broken glass, and wires had been churned around and dropped in piles on the wet carpet." Christenson further reports that the conference room roof was also blown off "with a stack of high-grade lumber from the lumber yard next door perched on the roof beams. The cable-TV public access channel control room next to the conference room was an electronic jumble." Both the high school library and the independent public library in Comfrey (pop. 433) were destroyed by the winds.

Nature Online No Longer Available Via the Publisher
As of March 1 (the end of our free trial), the University of Minnesota Libraries no longer offer access to the journal Nature via the publisher's own web site. Their present site licensing terms and costs are unacceptable to the institution and we will continue to seek a reasonable offer. See below for details.
    BACKGROUND
Earlier this year, Nature Publishing Group refused to allow institutional subscribers to have immediate access to the full electronic text of the journal and its select monthly titles. Unacceptable terms included:
    • A three-month (twelve-issue) delay for library subscribers to certain sections of the journal.
Only individual subscribers were allowed immediate access to the full online text.

This path refers you to an entire collection, the Paul Kellogg papers. Click on that link and you will have the choice of viewing the collection as it is arranged descriptively in the finding aid ("Introductory Notes" and "Outline of the Collection"), or with index entries sorted by personal, corporate, or geographic name. This route provides references to a number of diverse perspectives on Minneapolis. The first selection will group the "birds of a feather" who share the characteristic of having served as president of the NCCC. There are links to materials on each of them and images scanned from the published NCCC Proceedings . The second item will return a list of individual Florence Crittenton homes, and the hyperlinks then call finding aid citations together with images of the buildings.
