Senior Year Check List SEPTEMBER
  • Be sure to continue collecting information on options for postsecondary education. Keep it all in a folder. Be sure that your psycho-educational testing is up-to-date. Request that your final evaluation contain standardized intelligence and achievement tests using adult norms. Beware of "senioritis!" Your senior year grades, especially from the first semester, count heavily in postsecondary admissions. If you do well, it is a plus for you. Although good grades are important all through high school, colleges/universities believe your senior year grades often are a good indication of how you might do in postsecondary education.
You might think about taking a special study skills class or program through your community college or school. Be sure that you know your strengths and weaknesses in learning and what compensating techniques and accommodations work best for you. If you need textbooks on tape be sure you register with Recordings for the Blind and Dyslexic and secure a 4 track tape player.
Make sure that your independent living skills are adequate (e.g. keeping a checking account, doing laundry, cleaning, cooking, and transportation).

It then raises its delicate wings, takes flight and landson your nose. This happens every day at year-round butterfly centers across the country. Even when it's winter outside, it's spring inside these conservatories where thousands of butterflies fly freely in climate-controlled environments. The best time to visit these conservatories is during the morning when the butterflies are most active and when new butterflies emerge from their chrysalises. To observe and learn more about these delicate creatures, visit the Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House and Education Center in Chesterfield, Missouri. CHESTERFIELD, MISSOURI

For those of you coming from on-line services, you probably know what a message board is. But for you newbies, here is a simple explanation: A message board is an area where you can post questions or reply to questions. If you don't see a topic that you need info on, you can start your own. These are the ones I know of on the web. More are bound to crop up or I may not have one of your favorites listed. If so, please make sure to leave me a message. If you do a search at Yahoo Clubs Home Page Some other sites that allow you to start your own message boards are: Delphi Forums EZBoard Yahoo Groups At-Home Education Center Barb's Hangout for Book Worms Book Discussion Forum is a place to discuss books (other than textbooks) that one would use for educational purposes for preschool to grade twelve or that one would read aloud for family entertainment or consider giving to one's children to read.

MSBA's Superintendent Search Program
Please use the 'Related Links' on the right to browse for current openings. The selection of a new superintendent is the most important decision that confronts a board of education. Since 1984, your Missouri School Boards' Association has provided this service to facilitate this extremely important decision. The use of the MSBA Superintendent Search Program by Missouri local boards of education has increased steadily. In recent years, MSBA has successfully assisted in the hiring of approximately 25-30 superintendents annually. National Scope - Through our relationship with the National School Boards Association, successful superintendent searches can be conducted regardless of the size of the school district. MSBA's Superintendent Search Program has been utilized by school districts ranging in size from less than 300 students to districts with over 6,000 students enrolled in their schools. The length of employment of superintendents hired with the assistance of the MSBA Search Program exceeds the national average tenure of superintendent employment. This information is based on studies reported to MSBA by the Educational Research Service.
