New Brunswick borders on Nova Scotia Québec and the U.S. state of Maine. It is rectangular in shape, extending 322 km north to south and 242 km east to west New Brunswick has a land mass of 73,500 square kilometers, 85 percent of which is forest. The northern part of the province is very mountainous, while the interior is mostly plateau, flatter in the east and more hilly in the southeast. Twice a day, with the rising tide of the Atlantic Ocean, 100 billion tonnes of water stream past a rocky headland in the Bay of Fundy. The current created is practically equal to the flow of all the world's rivers over a 24-hour period. The eastern end of the Bay has tides of nearly 15 meters, the highest in the world, sufficient to completely submerge a four-storey building. Climate
New Brunswick is a maritime province with three coastlines: Chaleur Bay, the Bay of Fundy, and the Northumberland Strait. The eastern shoreline has a temperate climate and some excellent beaches. Summer is warm with cooler evenings. Autumn is relatively mild. Winters are cold with heavy snows. Residents tend to wear light-to-medium weights of clothing during summer months, heavyweights in winter. Waterproof jackets are advisable all year.

About us
Send me a Brochure Tripbuilder (Shopping Cart) Send me a Quotation ... Pacific News Member of National Park in Canada New Brunswick The largest of Canada's Maritime Provinces has a long tradition of life tied to the sea. Towering pines from its forests were once hewn as masts for ocean-going square-riggers built in Moncton and Saint John. Today, Saint John continues as a mighty shipbuilder, but also serves as a terminal for oil supertankers. With some of earth's highest tides, the Bay of Fundy keeps Saint John harbor ice-free, and bustling, year-round. New Brunswick's forests are vast, supplying a large pulp and paper industry that leads provincial manufacturing. Fishing is important in coastal areas and aquaculture farms supplement populations depleted by overfishing. About one-third of New Brunswick's citizens are Acadians, French-speaking descendants of the original settlers. Most of the rest trace their heritage to English loyalists who fled the colonies during the American Revolution. History The French were the first Europeans to lay claim to this land, which was part of a larger region they called Acadia. Samuel de Champlain led the French here in 1604, where they were welcomed by natives of the Algonquian-speaking Micmac tribe. The British and the French feuded over the area for more than a century, passing control back and forth, until the Treaty of Utrecht gave Acadia to the British in 1713.

Welcome to
Fredericton, New Brunswick The Canadian Connection By Ana Watts
Originally appeared in July 1999 Issue of Interface Monthly Magazine The St. John River runs through the heart of Fredericton- New Brunswick's capital city. On clear summer days it mirrors the hillside university campuses, church spires, legislature dome, a world-class art gallery, vintage Victorian homes, and thousands of trees. This is an idyllic place, one of Canada's prettiest cities. It has always been a wonderful place to live and work, but there hasn't always been enough work. When New Brunswick's economy was almost completely based on natural resources (about 80 percent of the province is forest and its south and east borders are coastal) many people were forced to "go down the road" to central and western Canada in order to put their knowledge and skills to use. Not any more. Today, with 60 percent of the province's IT companies, Fredericton is the strongest Knowledge Industry cluster in New Brunswick. In the past two years, the number of training and multimedia companies in greater Fredericton has grown by 120 percent. Clearly the Globe & Mail (one of Canada's national newspapers) was right when it named Fredericton one of "Canada's Top Ten Smart Cities." Model City Fredericton's success is the result of the Province of New Brunswick's determination to take advantage of its emerging competitive edge in telecommunications and other information technology sectors. In the early 1990s, thanks to NBTel's innovative telecommunications leadership, New Brunswick became the only jurisdiction in North America to enjoy a universally employed, fully-digital fiber-optic communications system. A 1993 task force of information highway experts recommended the province become a "test bed." Companies were encouraged to use the infrastructure as a test market for their technology and products, and the provincial government became a model user of the information highway.
