In many parts of the United States a listing of local resources related to Sweden would probably not fill a single screen. But in the Delaware Valley, as you will see, we will need a web site with many pages to give you an idea of all the resources available. Why is it so? Well, the first Swedes ever to visit this continent landed in 1638 on the western shores of the Delaware River at what is now the city of Wilmington, DE. Swedish Settlement On The Delaware 2 Volumes

And, some believe, also on the eastern shore at what is now Bridgeport in the Logan Township, NJ. [see New Stockholm below] A map at the end of this page shows the landing site on the western shore of the Delaware River The table below will initially contain some of the older resources/sites. My intention though is to eventually cover most aspects of the local resources up to the last minute info on the just opened Swedish restaurant [if we ever are to see that happen!] I will be most happy to receive suggestions regarding sites/resources to be included.

Family Support Coalition of New Jersey
Family Support Policy
Goal
The purpose of this statement is to shape public policy toward people with disabilities and their families and the actions of state and provider agencies when they become involved with families. The impact of a consumer driven community system of family supports requires interagency collaboration and cooperation and the participation of people with disabilities and their families. Legislation will ensure that policies and services will be statewide, inclusive, adequately funded, and consumer driven. The shaping and implementing that Family Support Policy is a shared responsibility and opportunity for all New Jersey citizens.
Statement
People with disabilities and their families are entitled to full participation in American life. The contributions of individuals with disabilities will enrich not only the lives of their families but also their communities and society.
The Family Support Coalition of New Jersey defines Family Support as:
On-going services and/or helping relationships whose effect is to maintain, and enhance the quality of family life over the lifespan of an individual with disabilities.
