School Leaders Licensure Assessment (SLLA)
The School Leaders Licensure Assessment (SLLA) is a performance-based assessment for the licensure of new school principals and assistant or vice-principals. The assessment was developed by ISLLC and ETS. The SLLA is grounded in research and linked directly to the ISLLC Standards for School Leaders. In collaboration with ETS, six states from the Consortium funded and developed an assessment for the initial licensing of beginning principals. The (SLLA) began national administration in October 1998. Arkansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, and North Carolina are using the SLLA for licensure, and several other states are in discussions with ISLLC and ETS to use the SLLA in their states. See Information on NC State Government for information on the organization, mission, and operations of North Carolina state agencies
  • FIND NC uses NC GILS (Government Information Locator Service) indexing to enhance Web access. NC GILS records are data that describe the electronic information in the Web page and are analogous to cataloging records found in a traditional online or card catalog which describe and index books in a library. The GILS concept was developed as a federal government strategy to assist federal agencies with making their electronic information more accessible to the public. With the passage of North Carolina General Statute 132-6.1(b) which requires every public agency to create an index of computer databases, interest grew in North Carolina for a means to index multiple types of state government information in electronic formats.
