PREMIER LINKS Banks and Financial Institutions Insurance Agents R etirees love the Crystal Coast. It doesn't snow all winter, it's not excessively hot all summer, golf and gardening are great nearly year round, the fishing is fantastic, and the people are charming. Adding to the attraction are the relatively inexpensive property costs, compared with other popular retirement areas. Because of the large bang for the retirement buck, the Crystal Coast enjoys a fast-growing population of highly educated, well-traveled and active retired citizens. As the number of older residents increases, the county and its various towns develop more activities directed toward suiting the needs and interests of the senior set. With the variety of sports, hobbies, volunteer opportunities and entertainment available, most retirees stay as busy as they want to be. Housing requirements can change quickly during the retirement years. Many townhouse and condominium developments are perfect for retirees who also decide to retire from house and lawn maintenance. All real estate companies can guide you toward more simplified living arrangements in beautiful locations. See the Crystal Coast Neighborhoods and Real Estate chapter for a complete discussion of housing alternatives available here.

Foreword
AS FAP MOVES INTO THE 21ST CENTURY, IT WILL BE IMPERATIVE TO DEVELOP MORE EFFECTIVE PREVENTION AND INTERVENTION PROGRAMS. WE WILL NEED TO LOOK CRITICALLY AT HOW THE FAMILY ADVOCACY PROGRAM IS CURRENTLY ACCOMPLISHING ITS MISSION DELIVERING SERVICES AND PROGRAMS. WE WILL NEED TO BE SURE THAT WE ARE ACTIVELY INVOLVED IN A PROCESS THAT WILL GIVE US THE INFORMATION THAT WE NEED FOR ACCOUNTABILITY AND FUTURE PLANNING. PROGRAMS THAT ARE ABLE TO PROVIDE CREDIBLE EVIDENCE OF THEIR EFFECTIVENESS WILL BE FAVORED IN FUNDING DECISIONS. WITH INCREASING SCARCITY OF RESOURCES, PROGRAMS AND SERVICES THAT CAN DEMONSTRATE A POSITIVE IMPACT ON THE MILITARY COMMUNITY IN TERMS OF INCREASED SAFETY, IMPROVED LEVELS OF PERSONNEL PREPAREDNESS AND SELF-SUFFICIENCY AND GREATER COMMUNITY COHESION WILL SURVIVE. COST-EFFECTIVENESS WILL BE CRITICAL TO ENSURE THAT WE MAINTAIN THE NECESSARY RESOURCES TO OPERATE OUR PROGRAMS. DEVELOPING APPROPRIATE EVALUATION OUTCOME MEASURES WILL ALLOW US TO RESPOND TO POLICY MAKERS AND FINANCIAL MANAGERS. OUTCOME BASED EVALUATION WILL TELL US IF WE ARE ADDING VALUE TO THE LIVES OF SOLDIERS AND THEIR FAMILIES AND CONTRIBUTING TO THE OVERALL READINESS OF THE ARMY TO FIGHT AND WIN. BY TARGETING EXCELLENCE USING A PERFORMANCE BASED EVALUATION MODEL, WE HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO CONTINUE WITH THE THEME OF THE FIVE YEAR PLAN - PLANNING AHEAD TO MEET THE NEEDS OF THE ARMY.

Developing healthy children and parent leadership skills.
Mission
The Southeastern Center seeks:
  • To generate and diffuse knowledge necessary for culturally competent family support and parent leadership programs (especially those focusing on infancy and early childhood) in the region.
    To provide high-quality
continuing education, technical assistance, and network development for family support providers, policy makers, and advocates in the region.
To serve as a focal point for studies and discussions that may improve the demonstrable efficacy, efficiency, and conceptual clarity of family support and parent leadership programs.

About the Center

Recognizing the special significance of support for families of young children in promoting their healthy development, many national and state organizations have recently launched major initiatives with such a purpose. Perhaps one of the most ambitious of these is Healthy Families America, the initiative of Prevent Child Abuse America (formerly the National Committee to Prevent Child Abuse) to support home visitation for families of infants and toddlers.
