American Labor Leader and Social Activist
2000 Hispanic Heritage Award Winner "I think we brought to the world, the United States anyway, the whole idea of boycotting as a nonviolent tactic. I think we showed the world that nonviolence can work to make social change." Dolores Huerta is the most prominent Chicana (Mexican American woman) labor leader in the United States. She is cofounder and first vice president of the United Farm Workers union. For more than thirty years she has dedicated her life to the struggle for justice and dignity for migrant farm workers. Honored with countless community service, labor, Hispanic, and women's awards, Huerta is a role model for Mexican American women. Dolores Fernandez Huerta was born in 1930 in the small mining town of Dawson in northern New Mexico. She was the second child and only daughter of Juan Fernandez and Alicia Chaves Fernandez. Her mother's parents had been born in New Mexico, while her father's parents had immigrated to America from Mexico. When Huerta was a toddler her parents divorced, and she moved to California with her mother and two brothers. Active Childhood As a single parent during the Great Depression (a severe economic slowdown in America during the 1930s), Alicia Chaves Fernandez had a difficult time supporting her young family. While she worked at a cannery at night and as a waitress during the day, her father helped watch the children. The young Huerta enjoyed a close relationship with her grandfather. "My grandfather used to call me seven tongues," she related to Margaret Rose in

Tim Curry (Dr Frank N. Furter) Susan Sarandon (Janet Weiss) Barry Bostwick (Brad Majors) As everyone's favorite nerd in Rocky, Bostwick brought a lot of musical talent to the film. He originated the role of Danny Zuko in Grease (1971) on Broadway, earning him his first Tony nomination. Two years after Rocky Horror, Barry Bostwick won a Tony for The Robber Bridegroom. While Barry has always kept busy working in either stage, film or television, most of his films have not been successes. He has worked in such non-hits as Movie! Movie!, Megaforce and Weekend at Bernie's II. He is now appearing on the television hit Spin City with Michael J. Fox. Richard O'Brien (Riff Raff) Patricia Quinn (Magenta) The humble Ms. Quinn claims that she got the part because "Marianne Faithfull was off with her guru." Pat Quinn is mostly known for her British stage work but may be known to audiences worldwide for her work as a nude model in Monty Python's Meaning of Life and her work in I, Claudius. She reappeared as Magenta in a 1994 production of Rocky Horror in Europe.
