Case Histories for your Classroom The Ohio Historical Society's Case History Resources Loan Program is offered with the assistance of Honda of America Manufacturing, Inc. A series of educational kits designed to supplement and enhance the classroom curriculum, the cases are targeted for students in the primary through middle school grades. Each kit provides a host of hands-on learning objects , as well as a teacher's guided, audiovisual materials, and original and/or reproduced artifacts from the Ohio Historical Society's collections. We live in a community that is primarily agricultural and industrial. Sidney is best known for the People's Federal Bank which was designed by famous architect, Louis Sullivan. We have 27 students in our class, 12 boys and 15 girls. The enrollment at Emerson is 500 and have grades K-4. We have been working on computers and have 5 in our classroom.     Joel L. Morrison was appointed Director of the Center for Mapping in October 1998, and also has faculty appointments in the Department of Geography and the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Geodetic Science. Dr. Morrison earned his B.A. cum laude from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio in June 1962, his MS in Geography from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in June 1964 and his doctorate in Geography-Cartography with a minor in Statistics from the University of Wisconsin- Madison in January 1968. Previous to his coming to the Center for Mapping at Ohio State, he was Chief of the Geography Division of the U.S. Bureau of the Census, with a brief special assignment to the National Science Foundation in the Geography and Regional Science Program of the Social, Behavioral, and Economic Directorate. Prior to service with the Bureau of the Census, Dr. Morrison was a senior administrator at the U.S. Geological Survey. At the Bureau of the Census, Dr. Morrison designed and implemented the first Cooperative Research and Development Agreements, CRADAs, signed between the Bureau and private corporations. Dr. Morrison has been active in the development of geospatial data standards, bringing together diverse efforts within the United States to create the Spatial Data Transfer Standard, and is currently serving as chairman of the Spatial Data Quality Project for the International Standards Organization. He is the co- author of a leading college text on Cartography, a book on spatial data quality, and the editor of two atlases. He has written numerous articles and papers for professional journals, and has served on the editorial boards of six journals.
