The following compilation of Internet/WWW sites is intended to be an introductory guide to some of the map and reference resources available via the World Wide Web. Consider using one of the WWW search engines if you are looking for a specific type of map or reference. The maps which are listed here have been selected because they are thought to be reasonably useful and/or interesting. They are categorized by geographical region although there are a couple of thematic categories such as Interactive Maps which both highlights the potential of the WWW and are also fun to use. Note that there is some overlap in geographic coverage between these categories. The emphasis is on displayable maps (e.g. images) rather than digital cartographic (GIS) and satellite data which can be found in the separate compilation Geodata Information Sources . There is also another listing which includes Weather Maps and Imagery

Introduction
Concept maps are an intuitive visual knowledge representation technique. Concept maps tend to be much easier for human users to understand than other knowledge representations such as pure text or predicate logic [Nosek 90]. Concept maps are graphs consisting of nodes with connecting arcs, representing relationships between nodes [Lamibotte 84]. The nodes are labeled with descriptive text, representing the "concept", and the arcs are labeled (sometimes only implicitly) with a relationship type. Concept maps are used to structure argument forms and express relationships between ideas [Gaines 93]. In education, Novak and Gowin [Novak 84] have promoted the use of concept maps to investigate a student's understanding of a topic, and there are many different forms that have been applied in this field [Lambiotte 84]. In management, Axelrod [Axelrod 76] proposed cognitive maps as a means of representing the conceptual structures underlying decision making, and these have been used empirically to analyze organizational decision making [Eden 79] social systems [Banathy 91] and the policies of political leaders [Hart 77]. In artificial intelligence, Quillian [Quillian 68] developed a form of concept maps that came to be termed

INTRODUCTION
Maps are found in a wide variety of materials throughout the library: as single sheets in a map collection, as government publications, as plates in atlases, as illustrations in books or journals. Digital maps are found on any of numerous web sites, in online research collections, or can be dynamically generated using online mapping services. Just as in written work, ethical scholarship demands that the source of information be cited. When maps are used as part of a document, like maps you might include in a scholarly assignment or paper, the maps must be referenced (cited) in two places First , maps must be given a caption. Typically, tables, figures, or maps are labeled with a sequential number in a document (e.g. Map 1, Map 2, etc.) They are given a short caption, which briefly identifies the source and contains a descriptive title. These captions follow specific style. When maps are identified in this way, it is possible to easily refer to the map in the text (e.g. population densities, as shown in Map 3, continue to….). This is one form of inline citation and is the form used in Geography 222. Brief inline citations allow the reader to refer to a reference list (or bibliography) to find out more information about the source of a map. All scholarly papers contain a reference list. This

Property Information
Click here for SERVER 1 Click here for SERVER 2 Click here for SERVER 3 Thank you for your recent emails inquiring about property information on our Web Site. This office is charged with, among other things, the valuation of all parcels of real estate in Greene County. All our documents are, by law, public record. The law makes them public record for a very good reason: the light of day ensures that government is accountable to the people it serves, and that there are no "back room" deals going on about property values. To quote newspaper pioneer E.W. Scripps: "Give light, and the people will find their own way." A second compelling reason to publish this information on the Web is to promote the accuracy of the database, from which taxes are derived. We collect more than 200 pieces of data on more than 70,000 real estate parcels. Public review of these records - including comparisons by citizens with the neighbors' properties - has resulted in correction of several errors.

Women and Heart Disease: An Atlas of Racial and Ethnic Disparities in Mortality , a new publication from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and West Virginia University, features five heart disease mortality maps for the state of Ohio. Women ages 35 years and older who lived in Ohio during 1991 through 1995 were studied. Overall, a total of 89,015 women in Ohio died from diseases of the heart during the five-year study period. County variations in heart disease death rates were mapped for all women, Asian and Pacific Islander women, black women, Hispanic women, and white women in Ohio. The population of American Indian and Alaska Native women was too small to produce a valid map.
