INTERLIBRARY LOAN
  • You are required to leave a $5.00 cash deposit. Items requested from other Indiana libraries usually do not charge a lending fee. Your item must be returned in good condition by the due date to get your deposit back.
  • Interlibrary Loan (ILL) requests cannot be searched by subject. You must have a specific book or the magazine article you want before it can be searched. The more specific details we have, the better the results will be.
  • Generally, an ILL request will take about 1-3 weeks to fill. It all depends on which libraries actually have the books on their shelves, are willing to loan books or photocopy articles, and the length of time it takes for books or articles to get here in the mail or through INCOLSA Wheels. The ILL Dept. will inform customers their ILL materials are in when they are received by the ILL Dept.
  • The length of the loan period on ILL books is generally about 2 weeks. The due date on ILL books is determined by the library who is loaning the book to us. It is not considered to be one of our books. The due date will be written on the blue ILL card which will be inserted in the book.

INFORMATION LITERACY TUTORIAL The Five Colleges of Ohio Information Literacy Tutorial can provide you with additional guidance in undertaking the research process. BOOKS The CONSORT catalog can be used to locate books, video and sound recordings, and some government documents available in the Kenyon, Denison, Ohio Wesleyan and Wooster libraries. CONSORT also provides access to OhioLINK, which indicates the holdings of over 50 libraries throughout Ohio. You may borrow books directly from either CONSORT or OhioLINK. Requested materials typically arrive at Kenyon 2 to 3 working days after the request is made. JOURNAL/PERIODICAL ARTICLES Indexes can be resources which allow you to find coverage of events, activities, and people at the time that they occurred or lived (primary sources). They can also be resources for articles which discuss/analyze events and people after the fact (secondary sources). It is important when utilizing electronic resources that you are aware of the time period coverage of each resource. For example, the coverage of general news magazines in Periodical Abstracts only extends back to the mid-1980s. This means it may be necessary to refer to the print equivalents or predecessors of the electronic resources.
