We are a nationally-recognized clearinghouse for information and advice to keep evolution in the science classroom and "scientific creationism" out. While there are organizations that oppose "scientific creationism" as part of their general goals (such as good science education, or separation of church and state), NCSE is the only national organization that specializes in this issue. When teachers, parents, school boards, the press and others need information and help, they turn to NCSE.
While most of NCSE's work involves defending evolution against attacks, we also work to increase public understanding of evolution and science "as a way of knowing." We also have programs to help teachers who want to improve their teaching of evolution. Here you'll find information and resources for all these activities.

COX COMMUNICATIONS AND VH1 SAVE THE MUSIC ANNOUNCE DONATION TO SUPPORT MUSIC EDUCATION IN OKLAHOMA CITY PUBLIC SCHOOLS AT EVENT ON WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 24 Oklahoma City October 17, 2001 - Cox Communications, in partnership with the VH1 Save The Music Foundation, today announced that they will donate $348,000 worth of musical instruments to restore music education in Oklahoma. Oklahoma City Public Schools will receive $100,000, and Tulsa Public Schools will receive $248,000 in musical instruments. The announcement will take place an event to be held at Sequoyah Elementary, 2400 NW 36th Street in Oklahoma City, at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 24. Oklahoma City and Tulsa are two of 43 cities across the nation participating in VH1 Save The Music this year. The VH1 Save The Music Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of education in America's public schools by restoring music education programs in cities across the U.S. and raising awareness of the importance of music participation for our nation's youth. "In light of the recent tragic events, music education more than ever represents a safe haven for kids, an important shared experience that not only lends order and meaning, but allows children to express their feelings in a constructive, artistic way," said Bob Morrison, Executive Director, VH1 Save The Music Foundation. "For all these reasons and the other academic benefits children receive in these programs, it's critical to help increase access to music education for the children of this and every community."
