The cut scores for the PPST are: Test Name Cut Score Reading Writing Mathematics
If Your Score Does Not Meet the Minimum
Students who score below the designated minimum level on any section of Praxis I will be allowed to retest. Universities provide advising and academic assistance. It is recommended that students pass the general education courses prior to taking Praxis I.

by Kenneth Daniel Despite the shrill voices of education officials in Kansas about an education "crisis", the numbers paint a picture of a very healthy institution, both in terms of results achieved and resources allocated. Overall, two areas stand out as being of concern. Kansas is 48th in the nation and worst in its region in terms of administrative costs. And, teachers' salaries are 41st in the nation and only average for the region. These two shortcomings seem to go hand-in-hand. Kansas schools should cut administrative costs drastically and devote those dollars to the classroom, including teachers' salaries. This does not mean that there is not a lot of work to do to make sure the total resources are distributed fairly. The taking over of school finance by the state in the early 1990's destroyed an established school funding system and gutted far more good laws than bad laws. Ten years later, the mess that resulted is far worse than the mess it replaced. There is plenty of money in the system if it is used correctly. From FY1994, the first year the new formula was in full effect, through FY2001, inflation was 20.3% and the increase in total enrollment was 2.2%. To stay even with inflation on a per pupil basis would have required an increase in funding of 20.7%.

(Access Report) THE STATE REPORT (Click here to access reports) As with all of the Office of Accountability’s reports, the information presented in the "Profiles 2001 State Report" is divided into three major reporting categories: (1) Community Characteristics, (2) District Educational Process, and (3) Student Performance. This is meant to mirror the real-world educational process. Students have a given home and community life. They attend a school with a varied make up of teachers who deliver education through different programs. And in the end, all of these factors come to bear on each student’s academic performance. The "State Report" deals with state-level common education issues. It examines the "big picture" of Oklahoma education and it is meant to set the stage for examining education in your part of the state, or within your local community. It contains many tables, graphs, and maps, all with accompanying text. Wherever possible, tables and graphs cover multiple years so that trends may be observed. National comparisons are added where comparable data exists. For a FREE printed copy of the report, please contact the Office of Accountability at (405) 522-4578, or e-mail us at
