Prior to the Tuesday of the World Trade Center events, I had planned an article on leadership. I planned to tell you all of the difficulty that this year’s nominations committee had in identifying candidates for our executive board. I planned to talk of commitment to our professional organization and our responsibility to develop new leaders to whom we can “pass the torch.” I planned to thank Pamela Armstrong for agreeing once again to allow her name to be placed in nomination for the role of presidency, and to talk of the debt of gratitude we owe her. I planned to remind all of the degree of respect OACRAO has earned over the years, of the voice it has given us all in the matters of governance and state policy, and of our responsibility to support our professional organization. But then Tuesday happened and plans changed…

Rose State College (RSC) offered its first classes on September 21, 1970. The College has grown from an initial enrollment of 1,700 to a regular fall enrollment exceeding 9,000. The campus now includes 19 buildings on 100 acres. At Rose State College, 470 faculty (full-time and adjunct), 94 administrative and professional staff; and 163 classified staff are committed to student academic success.
Rose State College is accredited as a degree-granting institution by the following professional groups: American Bar Association, American Medical Association, National League for Nursing, North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, Oklahoma Board of Nursing, Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education; and the State Accrediting Agency. In addition, the programs in Dental Assisting and Dental Hygiene are accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation, recognized by the Council on Postsecondary Accreditation and the United States Department of Education.

> Eleven percent or 2,957 of the 27,211 students graduating from Oklahoma colleges in Spring, 1994, had at some time enrolled in courses at Rose State College. Seven hundred fifty of the 2,957 were student graduates at RSC. Some students graduated with one or two degrees and/or a certificate.
