INTRODUCTION Welcome my fellow geographers! With vast improvements and technological advances on the information superhighway, it has become difficult to track down information. This page is designed to help eliminate confusion by serving as a central location for linking you to various geography web pages. I will first briefly introduce myself and discuss my current research interests. If you are interested in learning a new topic, I have posted links from various branches of geography and academic journals. For those who are looking for government agency websites or ways to download census and GIS data there are plenty of links to choose from. If you are looking for daily news or current events, there are several links posted. At last, for those who are interested in looking for jobs in geography there are links posted to assist you with your search.

    http://www4.geog.okstate.edu/cccproj/football.htm
Analyzing NCAA Division 1A College Football Attendance Patterns and Market Areas for 2000-2001 By Chris C. Chalmers Oklahoma State University Overview This project deals with the attendance patterns of National Collegiate Athletic Association Division (NCAA) 1A College football programs in the United States. Analyzing these patterns and researching season ticket information for each program was the foundation on which this project was created. The United States Department of Education (DOE) website at http://ope.ed.gov/athletics/ was the source for the data in the variables budgets, revenue, expenses, and recruiting expenses. The National Highway Planning Network Transportation Database was used to create market areas within a 50 and 100 mile area around the university. The 50 and 100 mile "zones" around each university are a qualitative estimation, with marginal supporting evidence, to explain season ticket patterns. Two examples for the season ticket data were Brigham Young University and Western Michigan University. The top ten season tickets sold by zip code were then mapped. In the case of BYU 97.8% of the season ticket were sold within a 50 mile zone around the university. In the case of Western Michigan University, 62.5% of the season tickets were sold in a 50 mile zone around the university. The regions that were created in the attendance pattern map were adopted from the Atlas of American Sport by Dr. John F. Rooney Jr. and Dr. Richard Pillsbury published in 1992, (MacMillan Publishing). The South Florida region was merged with the Pigskin Cult region. The Mills and Mines region was merged with the Heartland region. The Rocky Mountain High region was merged with the Cowboys and Mormons region. All these regions were modified for cartographic purposes, no analysis was performed using these regions.
