Dental advice for children : Thumb sucking THE HABIT... Thumb sucking is one of the most common habits during childhood. Most children suck their thumb for safety even before birth. WHEN IT BECOMES A PROBLEM ? Although thumb sucking is a normal habit it can cause serious teeth problems if it continues after teeth eruption. The problem gets serious if it continues after the age of four, when the permanent teeth are about to appear. In some cases thumb sucking is substituted by another dangerous habit as placing pencils between the teeth or biting the lips. Windy Hill Farm is a small hobby farm located on the picturesque Keweenaw Peninsula of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. To visit the farm you must first find your way to the small community of Atlantic Mine and follow the road a few miles into the countryside. A driveway sign tells a visitor he has found the right place. The farm is owned by an older couple named Paul and Phyllis Hill. They do not actually farm the land, but do own several old animals. One of the animals is a twenty-five year old horse named Razdan . His companion is an elderly goat named Tansy. She is a well-behaved animal but has a few unusual qualities. Every summer she begins to produce milk without being bred. This would be a wonderful benefit if Paul or Phyllis enjoyed milking a goat and had a taste for goat's milk. Tanzy herself has a fondness for hair. This created a problem for Razdan. One morning the sun rose upon a scene of a horse grazing in the pasture with only a whisk broom-like tail. Windy Hill farm is also the home of one old hen and two old roosters. The roosters are named Brewster and Billy Bob. The hen is named The Hen. The three of them are kept warm all winter with lights and a water heater which creates quite a light bill for Paul and Phyllis. The old hen laid one egg last winter... Another area of the farm has a rabbit hutch where an old black and white rabbit lives. Her name was originally Emily but in later years was changed to Fang due to an orthodontal problem. Her front teeth are misaligned and unless they are kept trimmed will grow and grow and grow... This has had an emotional effect that causes her to growl and attack anyone who reaches into her cage.
